Logging in to EIM for the first timeOnce the VM is fully booted, the console will display a login prompt, enter the default credentials.

The underlying Linux operating system ships with a randomized root user password. When you changethe Administrator password, the root user password will also be set to the same password. Once youhave set the password, you may choose to login to the system console by pressing Windows-F2 (andWindows-F1 to return to the graphical console.) You also have the option to login using SSH. Consoleaccess is not required to use the EIM application-all of its functionality is provided by the web browser-based application.

Change account password on first login

VM is booted and console is open at login prompt.

Navigate to the Appliance Management > User Configuration and click on the edit icon for theAdministrator user to change the account password.

Subsequent Logins by Web Browser

After you have booted your VM, the IP address assigned to it will be displayed on the console Loginpage, and the Network Configuration tool. Copy the IP address and paste into a web browser. Anyapplication functions requiring the upload or download of files will only be available using a remote webbrowser. Such functions include uploading firmware, configuration files, or SSL certificates.

Default CredentialsThe default credentials for EIM are:

• Username: Administrator• Password: edgeline

Idle timeoutIf you have been idle for 30 minutes, you will be logged out of EIM.

API AuthenticationThe use of the Redfish REST API is optional, and may be used to drive programatic access to theappliance. To access API URIs beyond /redfish/v1, obtain a token.

Procedure

1. To obtain a token, post the following json body to the URI https://10.10.10.20/redfish/v1/SessionService/Sessions :

{ "UserName": "Administrator", "Password": "edgeline" }

Using the Discovery and Registration featuresDiscovering and registering a server allows you to view server status, alerts, and configuration details. You can discover and register a single server or multiple servers on a network.

Discovering and registering multiple systemsUse the Discovery tab when you want to scan an entire network to discover and register multiple targetsystems with Edgeline Infrastructure Manager.

Prerequisites

• Target ISM or iLO credentials

• Network IP address

Procedure

1. On the Discovery & Registration page, select Discovery.

2. Enter the below information:

• Network IP

• Subnet Mask or CIDR

• Username

• Password

NOTE: Invalid combinations of Network IP and CIDR or Subnet mask will be rejected.

3. Click Register.

Verify the server is listed on the Dashboard page under servers or chassis.

Network Subnet Mask or CIDRThe Network IP value is the address used to describe the entire network-not just a single host IP address. For instance, if your network uses a network identified as 192.168.1.0/24, the network IP value is192.168.1.0.

The Subnet Mask or CIDR value identifies the number of hosts on the network to scan. For instance, inthe example above, the /24 represents a CIDR value which corresponds to the subnet mask of255.255.255.0, which equals 254 IP addresses. Using these network IP and CIDR values in theDiscovery tool, will result in the EIM instance scanning the addresses between 192.168.1.1 and192.168.1.254. EIM will exclude the Network IP (192.168.1.0) and broadcast address (192.168.1.255)from the scan automatically. The following table demonstrates the relationship between CIDR, subnetmask, and the number of addresses which will be scanned.
