Edge Hill University’s Ormskirk Campus is located between Liverpool andPreston in West Lancashire. This section of your handbook will look at the bestways of travelling to and from the University.

Public TransportOrmskirk has one railway station which is located a short distance from the busstation, and within walking distance of the campus. There are regular trains toand from Preston via Northern Rail and all stations to Liverpool Central onMerseyrail’s Northern Line.

A number of buses connect Ormskirk to the surrounding area, most of whichstop at the bus station in the town centre. Edge Hill students can benefit fromunlimited travel on Arriva buses throughout the North West region bypurchasing an Arriva North West Student Saver ticket.

The Edge Link (EL1) bus service is a fast, cheap and reliable way to get to thecampus from Ormskirk bus station. During term-time this service runs every 15minutes, 8.05am – 8.45pm, Monday-Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) and8.05am – 5.45pm on Saturdays. This service is FREE with your student ID card.

If you live locally or you are allocated a room in halls of residence the cheapestand easiest way to get around is on your own two feet! You’ll find it easy to walkfrom the campus into town, a journey that takes no more than about 15 minutes.

Alternatively, you may decide to cycle to campus and we offer a variety of securestorage solutions for bikes and motorcycles/scooters.

Travelling by CarThe Ormskirk campus is easily accessible by road via the M6 motorway. Leavethe M6 at Junction 26, join the M58 towards Skelmersdale and leave at Junction3, taking the A570 towards Ormskirk and Southport. The campus can also bereached from Preston or Liverpool via the A59.

Parking on-campusCar parking on-campus is limited and cannot always accommodate all vehiclesduring peak periods. We therefore recommend, wherever possible, that studentsuse public transport.

Students coming to study at Edge Hill for the first time will need to enrol andreceive a student number before a parking permit application can be made.Students who are living in halls of residence are not eligible to park on-campus.There are some exceptions for students on placement.

The issuing of parking permits is based on clear eligibility criteria, however theprovision of a permit does not guarantee a parking space due to the limitedcapacity on-campus. Even if you do have a permit, we suggest that you build insufficient time to park off-campus when necessary.

Please visit edgehill.ac.uk/sustainability/travel/car-parking to find outmore about parking on-campus and see details of alternative parking provisionclose to the University.
