« Living and learning democracy » A series of six teaching manuals Coordination and realisation: IPE / PHZH Financing: Council of Europe / SDC EDC / HRE – Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education In the past years there has been an ongoing discussion in the Council of Europe about how civil society could be strengthened and supported in the domain of formal and non-formal education. This approach has become known as EDC – Education for Democratic Citizenship. The series of six manuals presented here is part of this approach and is meant to help teachers and principals to introduce citizenship and human rights in schools in a fun and interactive way. The project is being realised on behalf of the Council of Europe by the institute IPE – International Projects in Education of the Zurich University of Teacher Education (Pädagogische Hochschule Zürich – PHZH) and is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The six books are written in English.
