WHAT IS A COMMUNITY OF
PRACTICE?
According to Etienne Wenger-Trayner, Communities of Practice are groups of people who share a
concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact
regularly.
Communities of Practice
Teachers will self-organize into Communities of Practice based on their topic of interest and meet monthly in-person and online.
Meeting Outcomes:● Develop shared understanding of the role of technology in teaching
and learning (Conceptual Framework: SAMR and TPACK model)● Explore apps and web-based programs (e.g. Google Apps for
Education, Learning Management Systems, iPad and Android apps)● Share current successes and problem-solve challenges in
technology integration

EdCampRUSD
In March 2016, 30 teachers and administrators will attend the CUE conference in Palm
Springs, California. Participants will submit their applications and every site will have at least one representative. Participants must
commit to nightly debriefs and participation in Mashup Mondays upon their return.
At Mashup Mondays, CUE attendees will lead brief sessions
on their learning and implementation of educational
technology. See Mashup Mondays from 2014-2015.
EdCampCotsenSpring 2016
In Spring 2016, Rowland USD teachers will participate in an Ed Camp for the following
districts: Tustin USD, Pomona USD, Los Alamitos USD, Los Angeles USD in the efforts of providing an opportunity for teachers across these districts
to learn with and from one another.
