Northwood is a national network. Each office is locally owned and operated by highly trained professionals. Their business credentials, dedication and motivation mean that they understand how quality customer service oriented businesses need to be run.

Quite simply Northwood offer a risk-free rental option by guaranteeing the rent to a landlord even if the property is vacant and even if the tenant does not pay the rent. Added to that, their positive approach and determined attitude puts you on the path to success in all your property requirements.

Northwood also has access to investment properties via their network of developers and business associates. Landlords who are looking to expand their property portfolios should contact Northwood.

Director Nin Rehal commented, “In the current climate we have intentionally held back with the estate agency part of our business, as marketing your property “For Sale” for long periods of time can be damaging and result in you receiving

offers far below your expectations. In these uncertain times some vendors should consider retaining their property as a long-term investment. Our Platinum Scheme has attracted a number of new landlords who have had their properties up for sale for long periods of time. We even offer one-year contracts so you can wait until the market picks up or try again next year. Our guaranteed payment can even tie in with your mortgage payment date.”

If you are thinking of letting and would like to discuss Northwood’s Platinum Guaranteed Rental Income Scheme or any of the complete range of traditional property management services that Northwood offer please contact Northwood on 0121 622 5066, email [email protected] or visit the website www.northwooduk.com andNorthwood would be delighted to arrange a free, no obligation valuation and meet with you to discuss your requirements. What have you got to lose?

CACI Beauty Open EveningOne of Birmingham City Centre’s longest established hair and beauty salons is holding an open day on Thursday 19 May to launch their new pioneering CACI treatments. Please call to make your reservation.

Christodoulou’s in North Western Arcade, opposite House Of Fraser is a warm, friendly salon offering excellent service and competitive prices.

At the open evening you can experience CACI’s award winning non-invasive anti-ageing treatments for amazing open evening prices starting from just £20. These include facial toning, line and wrinkle treatments, body toning, cellulite treatment and skin hydration.

Christodoulou’s is a welcoming salon that continues to be a favourite amongst its regular clientele. Catering for a full cross section of society the salon is like a breath of fresh air - quite down to earth, but very smart and professional at the same time.

They provide a full range of hair and beauty treatments from facials (microdermabrasion, Dermalogica and CACI) and spray tans to manicures and pedicures (including MINX nails) as well as waxing, threading and massage.

For full details of treatments take a look at their website www.hairbeauty.me or call them on 0121 236 5845.

I went Christodoulou’s hair & beauty salon for a Dermalogica Luxury Spa Facial which includes a face, neck and shoulder massage and received a little ray of luxury in my normally hectic life. I am new to facials so was not quite sure what to expect and was just a bit nervous if I’m honest. I had no reason to be though, it was a thoroughly pleasant experience - I was very well looked after and came out surrounded by a healthy glow and with such soft smooth skin - I am an instant convert.

The beauty salon has seven smart treatment rooms and a comfortable communal waiting area, so is great for a single treatment and perfect if you are going with a group for a pampering party.

The hair salon is very popular and always buzzing, partly because of their relaxed and professional approach and partly their very reasonable prices. So don’t miss the opportunity for some great CACI treatments at their open evening on 19 May. Places are limited so please call to book for a 5pm, 6pm or 7pm treatment, on 0121 236 5845.

Hankering after a lusher greener lawn?It doesn’t have to be as expensive as you think. For a fraction of the cost of buying all the weed-killers and fertilisers yourself, GreenThumb can transform your lawn with their low cost quarterly treatments.

GreenThumb is one of the UK’s largest and most trusted treatment services, with approximately 200 branches serving over 400,000 customers nationally through local operators.

Ed and Tom are your local operators and have been running GreenThumb Birmingham South for just over a year. This branch covers an area that runs from Edgbaston in the north, down to Alvechurch/Rowney Green in the south, and from Weoley Castle in the west to Kings Heath in the east.

The basis of their service is four treatments throughout the year. These are as follows:

• Spring treatment• Early summer treatment• Late summer treatment• Autumn/winter treatment

The first three of these treatments help to improve the lawn by application of a fertiliser and a weed-killer with the final treatment being a liquid moss control and winter feed. From these treatments you can expect to see a thicker, greener lawn with a reduction in the number of weeds and moss present.

In addition to these treatments, GreenThumb also offers hollow-tine aeration and lawn scarification. These processes help to reduce compaction and thatch levels, again resulting in a lusher, greener lawn. Finally, GreenThumb can also offer specialist treatments to control diseases such as

Fusarium, lawn pests including Chafer grubs, Leatherjackets or Frit fly and can also provide water conservers and growth regulators, in addition to providing general lawn-care tips for mowing and watering your lawn.

With GreenThumb’s new easy-to-understand programmes, a beautiful lawn has never been easier to achieve. Why do it yourself? Ed and Tom can help you transform your lawn for minimal price and effort, with treatments starting from as little as £15 (including VAT).

For more information, or for a free, no obligation analysis of your lawn, please contact Ed or Tom on the following:

Beautiful windows and doors to see and touchThe Midlands’ only period window and door showroom has tripled in size to showcase a greater range of products including a full-size orangery.

Replacing your windows and doors can be one of the biggest jobs you will ever undertake on your home. And you only want to do it once so it’s worth getting it right first time.

So often we have to put our trust into someone who comes into our own home to provide a quote and show us pictures in brochures or on-line, or maybe hand over small samples.

But now for the first time you can step into a fully furnished showroom and see and touch, and even walk through examples of the finished products giving you a very clear idea of how your home could look with new doors and windows from The Harborne Sash Window Company.

The products offered by The Harborne Sash Window Company and on display in the showroom include a whole range of contemporary and traditional windows and doors. And taking centre stage you will find a stunning fully constructed engineered hardwood oranagery complete with stunning roof lantern, bi-folding doors, French doors, and handmade stone sills.

The beauty of seeing the products up close in this way is that you can appreciate their superior locking mechanisms, the outstanding quality of finish, and the absolute attention to every detail.

The Harborne Sash Window Company has a reputation for quality and excellent service, and works closely with Timber Windows and the English Glass House to deliver the best quality products available in a time frame that suits you. Once you have decided what you want the lead time is just 6-8 weeks.

The products are crafted in a temperature controlled environment and are fully finished prior to installation.

All frames come with a thirty year guarantee and wooden products come with an eight year paint guarantee. Yes, that means you won’t have to paint your timber windows for at least eight years after they have been installed.

The special glass used reduces heat loss by up to 50% more than standard double glazing and has special UV filters to protect furniture, carpets and curtains from sun damage. The high tech glass is designed to retain more heat in the winter and keep the room cooler in the summer.

The Harborne Sash Window Company has a team of highly qualified designers and installers which means they can see the project right through from initial survey and design to installation with minimum disruption. Carpets and furniture is protected with sticky back plastic and dust covers and the workmen will clean up at the end of each day they are there.

If you love your house and want new windows or doors that will enhance its character then you should go along and see for yourselves what The Harborne Sash Window Company has to offer.

Their showroom is at:

Studio 6, Weekin Works112-116 Park Hill RoadHarborneB17 9HD

You can simply pop in Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 5.30pm or Saturday between 10.00am and 4.00pm.

If you would like to make an appointment to talk to someone about your project then you can call 0121 427 8800 or email [email protected]

Woods, Wilderness and the Wild Men Middle-earth Weekend 2011 is on 21 and 22 May at Sarehole Mill Recreation Ground from 11.00am until 5.00pm each day.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s love for the countryside and his fond memories of the years spent living near to Sarehole Mill is reflected in the theme for this years’ weekend. This event is suitable for children and their families as well as other fans of Tolkien’s stories. There will be plenty of hands-on activities, crafts and re-enactments, plus music, dance, poetry and drama

This year the organisers are running a photographic competition open to all ages on the theme of Trees and Leaves of Middle-earth. The competition closes at the end of April when twelve prize entries will be chosen to reproduce in a calendar for 2012 and these photographs will be on display at the weekend. The Rules of entry are on the website.

The weekend is free to attend although there may be a charge for some of the activities.

Details of events and activities can be found on the website www.middleearthweekend.org.uk.

Tyndallwoods raises money for National Memorial ArboretumThe National Memorial Arboretum in Burton-on-Trent is an extraordinary and unique place. It is Britain’s living and growing tribute to the service and sacrifice of so many for our freedom.

It is a place of remembrance and contemplation but also of celebration of those who gave, and continue to give, so much so that we can enjoy our lives and the beauty that surrounds us.

Tyndallwoods Solicitors in Harborne have raised funds for the Edward’s Trust Memorial Garden and also for the extension of the car park of this special place.

In March 2011 Judy Dyke of Tyndallwoods welcomed clients and friends to join her in visiting the Arboretum.

The Arboretum is open every day except Christmas Day between 9am and 5pm last admission is 4.30pm (unless otherwise stated).

If you would like to find out more about the National Memorial Arboretum please visit www.thenma.org.uk or call 01283 792333
