Laguindingan Airport Allied Projects
• The first international airport in Northern Mindanao, expected to accommodate about 1.6 million passengers and 24,447 tons of cargoes by year 2020.
• Total estimated cost: PhP7.853 Billion
• Present Status 78% complete as of end-February 2011. Bid documents and contract packaging for the Air Navigation
System and Support Facilities Project has been finalized for submission to the DOTC.
Expected to be fully completed and operational by 2012.
• Recommended Action• Provision of complementary infrastructures to facilitate
movement of people, goods and services to & from the airport and maximize its utility. (see next 3 slides)
1. Establishment/construction of a Commercial Seaport
• Total estimated cost: P500 Million
• Proposed as an option for airport passengers in going to and coming from the airport to strategic locations in the region as well as nearby regions.
• Recommended Action:
Issuance of a Presidential Order certifying the project as urgent and priority, and directing the DOTC to initiate the preparation of the necessary studies and provide funding for its immediate implementation.
Laguindingan Airport Allied Projects
2. Implementation of the Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Corridor (CIC) Mindanao Railway System (MRS) Project
• Present Status Repackaging of the feasibility study using
PPP/PSP/BOT modality being undertaken by DOTC.
• Recommended Action : Issuance of an order certifying the project as priority
and directing DOTC to fast track the processing and repackaging of the FS for PPP/PSP/BOT undertaking.
Allocation of Php 50 Million for MOOE of the Mindanao Railway Project Office and Php 2 Billion for RROW acquisition.
Laguindingan Airport Allied Projects
3. Road Widening into 4 lanes of the Iligan-Cagayan de Oro-Butuan Road (ICBR) and Sayre Highway
• Total estimated cost: ICBR road widening – PhP 9.50 Billion, Sayre Highway - PhP 5.48 Billion
• Present Status Existing 2-lane ICBR road and Sayre Highway need
widening to accommodate the increasing volume of traffic given the operation of the Mindanao Container Terminal and soon to be completed Laguindingan Airport.
• Recommended Action: Certify project as priority and for the DPWH to provide
funding for its immediate implementation.
Laguindingan Airport Allied Projects
Alae-Phividec By-Pass Road
It will complement the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) and will serve as By-Pass Road from Misamis Oriental to Bukidnon. The project shall divert traffic of trucks/vehicles carrying containerized cargoes enroute to MCT without passing Sayre Highway (Puerto-Alae Section).
• 17-kilometer road from Misamis Oriental to Bukidnon going direct to Phividec and by-passing the Puerto-Alae Section of Sayre Highway
• Total estimated cost: PhP1.121 Billion
• Present Status Still a local road, PhP335.30 Million already allocated in
CY 2004-2007 from the President’s Social Fund
• Recommended Action: Conversion into a national road Additional funding of PhP786.68 Million for its completion
Panguil Bay Bridge
• Connects Misamis Occidental to mainland region 10 through Tubod-Tangub
• Approximate length of 2.3 km plus 1.2 km approach• Total estimated cost: PhP2.26 Billion• Present Status
Proposed to be financed under the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Phase II.
Updating of the Feasibility Study being currently undertaken by DPWH-Central Office.
• Recommended Action: Certification as priority project of the government to
facilitate funding and implementation.
