Unique Technology

Inflow water passes through the cell Electrodes are layered into the cell A D.C current of 1.6V is applied across

the electrodes Individual electrodes are charged with

different polarities Minerals in the water are attracted to the

opposite polarity of electrode These minerals are electrochemically absorbed onto the electrode When sufficient minerals are absorbed onto the electrodes they are

released in a regeneration step Contaminants fall off the electrodes and flushed away for discharge or

reuse.

What is EcoAeon EWP®?

New technology bringing Hybrid Capacitive Deionization “HCDI” to life using the “Flow Capacitor” to desalinate aqueous solutions

Proven Technology

Offering sustainable water solutions in both developed countries and for the treatment of contaminated drinking water in developing countries.

About EcoAeon EWP® A new system that desalinates and purified water

without using ion exchange resins or membrane filters

Chemical Free

Using a direct low voltage current

Lowest energy consumption for purifying water

Requires no pre-treatment of water

Low maintenance

How does it work? In the working phase the

ions present in the water are attracted and retained by the electrode that is supplied with the opposite polarity

© EcoAeon 2010

Page 10: ecoaeon ewp presentation

How does it work? After removing a certain quantity of

contaminants (ions) the level of ions exiting the cell begins to increase, signifying that the EA EWP® cell is loaded

The working flow is interrupted, and the electrical supply to the electrodes is cut through a short circuit

The ions (contaminants )which were absorbed on the electrodes recombine after detaching from the electrodes

Page 11: ecoaeon ewp presentation

How does it work? The electrodes are supplied with

an opposite charge for a short amount of time (10-30 seconds)

A reduced flow flushes the concentrated salts in the cell for either disposal or re-use

Then the cycle starts again

Energy Consumption

As an example, the energy consumption is in the order of 0.20-0.40 KWh per 1000 liters for a solution of 1000 mg/l of NaCl (salt)

A major advance in sustainable water treatment

Applications The EcoAeon EWP® techonology has infinite

applications We have divided them into three distinct types:

• Partial desalination

• Full Demineralization

• Special applications and treatment of waste water

Page 15: ecoaeon ewp presentation

EcoAeon EWP® Single pass: Used when only partial desalination is required Used as an ion exchange water softener without

using salt Used for agricultural irrigation Used to remove Nitrates, Arsenic and organic

contaminants from drinking water

Page 16: ecoaeon ewp presentation

EcoAeon EWP® Twin Pass: For demineralisation of water To obtain residual conductivity of less than 4 μS/cm A multiple pass unit to demineralise water with

high salt concentration (up to 10,000 mg/l of NaCl - Salt)

Page 17: ecoaeon ewp presentation

EcoAeon EWP® Waste Water: For the reuse of water To reduce the salt concentration after chemical

precipitation plants To desalinate water after biological purification

plants in relation to their re-use and a possible replacements of membranes

To reduce investment and operational costs of a thermal distiller or of Reversal Osmosis unit

And for all the special applications
