Awell planned rainwaterharvestingsystem,useof recycledpaperintheschool,arrangementofseparatebinsforbiodegradable andnondegradablewastes aresomeoftheothermeasurestakenbytheschooltoniptheproblemofenvironmentaldegradationinthebud.

Alok Senior Secondary School has beenrunning ‘Eco-Club’Since1990withamotiveofgeneratingawarenessamongstudentsregardingdeterioratingconditionofenvironment,overuseofnaturalresources,waterconservationetc.Thisclubperformstwoactivitiesinamonthsuchasbanpolythene,usepaperbags,Treeplantation,cleaningof lakes,Nukkadnataks,Humanchainralleys, distributionof pamphlets, distributionof paper and cloth bags. The two importantdocumentaryfilms ‘Mr.PolytheneHumTumseDarteHain’ and ‘EkShaharKaDard’werealsodirected and telecaste to generate awarenessamongthemassesofUdaipurlivinginruralandurbanareas.

Theprogrammecommencedat11.00amon3rdMay2010andProf.AnilZankar,WWI,Mumbaiexplainedthedetailedsyllabus/curriculumofMassMediastudies(bothacademicandvocational).TheschemeofstudieswasexplainedthoroughlytoalltheparticipantsbySh.P.V.SaiRangaRao,EducationOfficer.Therewasa lotof interactionbetweenparticipantsandresourcepersons.Thepostlunchsessionwasconductedbygroup formationwiththeparticipants. Therewerefivegroups forfivechaptersandsuggestedtheteachingmethodologyandapproachtowards theCurriculum.A fruitfulinteractionwas held among the participantsand subsequently theyware asked topreparepresentationoneachchapter.
