Abstract
The article presents a case study of applying the concept of Watson’s caring theory to a esophageal cancer patient with repeated intubation in the intensive care unit. Seven major health problems were diagnosed: ineffective breathing pattern, ineffective airway clearance, fluid volume deficit, pain, acute confusion, fear, and caregiver role strain. By applying the concept of Watson’s caring theory , the author provides protective care, and reduce patient and caregiver strains, and help the patient successfully transferred to the surgical ward.
