In Masses, we always say different prayers to praise our Lord. I believe you are familiar with the prayers in Chinese. In the coming issues, we will introduce the English version of these commonly used prayers so that we can praise our Lord together if you have a chance to participate in an English Mass.
信經Profession of faith

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.” (Mark 6:4)
interviewM i r a G u n d a , t h e eldest of her seven s i b l i n g s , c a m e t o H o n g K o n g t o support her family. Leaving behind her beloved family, she arrived Hong Kong in the winter of 1992. S he wa s n i ne te e n years old then.
On her jOurney Of faithMira has been a believer since young. She prayed to God whenever she encountered difficulties and challenges in life. Her faith grew rapidly when she was in Hong Kong. It was rather difficult for her in Hong Kong as she knew no one. The homesickness and isolation were hard to bear. Mira worked for three families throughout these years. She recalled the most stressful period was when she was working with the second family who had unrealistic expectations and unreasonable requests towards Mira. She tried to resolve the issues with the family by reaching out and discussing with them but to no avail. Mira originally decided not to renew the contract. However, the sudden illness of her young sister changed her mind - she needed to sign on another contact so that she could continue providing for the family. She reckoned that she was the only breadwinner in the household as her parents passed away respectively not long after she left for Hong Kong. Mira was later being terminated after she renewed the contract unexpectedly. She was confused and shocked. Fortunately, she was being arranged to stay in a shelter until she found a new employer. During that time, she only had one support -God. Mira described how much grace and strength that God bestowed on her. She continued to pray to God and throughout the hardship she knew that God would never abandon her. Her faith continued to grow.
On her ChurCh lifeMira started going to our Church in 2010. By that time, she just started her work with her third family which she continued working for till present days. Mira was treated with respect and love in this family. Her reasonable working condition and hour allow her to attend Church regularly. She remembered the first time she joined the Church was by sheer coincidence. She was asking her friends where she could find a church in a Saturday evening. Her friends immediately pointed to our Church
which was just across the shop. She was later invited to join the Saturday choir. Mira agreed to join as singing and dancing were her favorite pastime.
Mira later attended Sunday mass as well in 2013 as she wanted to have a more fruitful and meaningful Sunday. She was invited to join the Social Concerns Group in 2013 and had been serving in the Group since. With her ability to speak Cantonese, Mira was tasked with the Master of Ceremonies when the group visited the Elderly home. She felt blessed to have such opportunities to serve the elderly with her language skill and her love of dancing and singing.
It was in 2014 that Mira was invited to join the Help Desk serving team. Mira explained that Help Desk provided both practical and emotional support to those who first arrived Hong Kong and those had difficult time with their employers. For practical support, they would give advice and refer ones to lawyers when needed. They would also help liaising with the Consulate, discussed and explored different options and strategies to cope with or to handle crisis and current stressful situation. They also provide spiritual and emotional support to those who were in need. Mira was also able to use her personal experiences to assist and empower those who were in crisis and in need. The team would reach out to the church members proactively. Mira noted that they not only served the Philippines but also people from Indonesia. They served people who came to them wholeheartedly. There were four members in the group who divided their responsibilities accordingly. Mira was nominated as the coordinator of Help Desk this year. She was surprised by the nomination and vowed to continue to serve with faith.
When asked if she had any tips for the readers regarding how to cope with all these challenges and remained faithful, Mira smiled and said she always prayed to God because her experiences with God showed her how God was always there. Mira also tried not to ruminate for too long. She said that she would put it aside if there was no solution for now. She would revisit it once she had other thoughts. The final secret for this coping recipe, “Stay hopeful, be prayerful and always with a smile,”Mira said with a grin, “and the most important thing is to remember that always be thankful for what God has given us in our daily lives.”

Mother's Day aWay froM My MoMIf you live far away from Mom, it may be hard to stay in touch with her on a regular basis or to keep her as involved in your life as you might like to. Of course, when Mother's Day rolls around, you want to make the day all about Mom. But you might feel a bit limited with so much space between you. To make Mother's Day special, even from far away, consider taking a unique approach to the Mother's Day Celebrations. Set up a long web chat appointment with Mom beforehand over a video call or any free internet phone service. Spend the time chatting, and catching up, or plan a particular activity to do together. For example, you could send photos back and forth to each other to look at together. To really make Mom's day, set a regular weekly or monthly video call date to catch up or coordinate with your Siblings or other family members to participate in a group video chat all at once. Plan in advance to have flowers or other things like dark chocolates or fruit baskets delivered to Mom's Door. Don’t forget the personalized note: a really special note is the kind of thing that makes this gift really special. Or surprise Mom by having flowers sent to her home before Mother's Day. Remember how Mom would send you boxes of treats and special things when you were away at camp, college, or your first place on you own. Return the gesture by sending Mom a Mother's Day care package. This could include gifts like: nice soaps, lotions, candles, perfumes, etc. You could also consider making a nostalgia package.
This might be especially if something significant has happened this year. For example, maybe your Mother just became a grandmother, or maybe you just turned 30, meaning your Mom has been a mother for 30 years. Make her nostalgia package with things like: pictures with her own Mother next to pictures of your Mother with you or with your Child. A joke gift about her food cravings when she was pregnant. For example, when my Mom was pregnant she would eat bowls of peanuts and tortilla chips, or a fancy bag of tortilla chips and M&Ms tied up with a ribbon would probably make her laugh..! You can both promise to try and make plans to be together on Mother's Day next year to make up for being apart. When it comes down to it, as long as you make Mom feel the star of the day, the distance won't seem nearly so bad! Most likely what Mom really wants is just to spend time with you, so finding a way to connect is the most important thing.Thank you.
Happy Mother's Day to All Mothers of the world! God Bless!

Palm Sunday – Father Francis blessing the Palms
Lenten Recollection for Saturday Group by Fr. Francis on March 17, 2018
While it is important that we have a basic knowledge and grasp of the meaning of the teaching of the Catholic Church before we begin, we are not expected to have all the answers. Preparing the materials, I am exposed, refreshed and expanded in my knowledge and while teaching young adults and kids I am more surprised that I discovered and learned more than I expected. We visited a Sunday School and Youth Class Program at another Parish to observe their methods of teaching, not to compare with ours, but to further improve our way of teaching and deal with the needs of our young

Catholics. We are all called to be witnesses to the Gospel. Sometimes we hear a deeper call and it is then we realize that we are being asked to proclaim the Gospel, or we are called to be a "Catechist', and I never regret saying "Yes". My own Faith came alive.

May, Month of Maryto Jesus through Mary
The month of May is called “Month of Mary”. This Christian custom arose at the end of the 13th century. During this month, faithful Catholics, both in church and in the privacy of their homes or designated places, offer up to Mary fervent and loving homage; and “during this month, the benefits of God's mercy come down to us from her throne in greater abundance" [Paul VI, Encyclical on the Month of May, no. 1]. It is an invitation to us to come closer to Jesus through Mary.
"We never give more honour t o J e s u s t h a n w h e n w e honour his Mother, and we honour her simply and solely to honour him all the more perfectly. We go to her only as a way leading to the goal we seek - Jesus, her Son." [Saint Louis Marie de Montfort, True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, #94].
Our prayers are addressed t o J e s u s t h r o u g h t h e intercession of the Virgin Mary. It is God who is praised for the salvation accomplished by his Son, to whom Mary is associated by grace: “Greetings, favoured one! The Lord is with you” (Luke 1: 28); “Most blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb” (Luke 1:42).
Mary consented to the coming of the Saviour Jesus Christ and cooperated in developing His mission. She supported Him during His public ministry in a quiet way, beginning at Cana, where by her intercession Jesus performed His first miracle. The Easter season, gives us a very opportunity to rediscover the role of the Virgin Mary as mother and model in our lives and in the Church Mission. Mary was at the foot of the cross. She was
presented to us as our mother: ‘Woman, behold your son’ (…) ‘Son behold your mother’ (John 19:27).
Mary was present at the Cenacle gathered together with the Apostles and waiting the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Pentecost day. (Acts 1:14). Pope Benedict reminds us
“There is no Church without Pentecost (…) and there is no Pentecost without the Virgin M a r y ”. [ B E N E D I C T X V I , Regina Caeli, St Peter's Square- Sunday, 23 May 2010]. This allows us to contemplate the life and work of Christ and his Church in connection with his mother, but also it helps us to grow in joy and filial trust in Mary our Mother.
D u r i n g t h i s m o n t h , t h e Church invites us through t h e i n t e r c e s s i o n o f t h e Blessed Virgin Mary to pray to Christ to fill us with his Spirit: The Spirit of truth
and wisdom who frees us from slavery of sin. With Mary, the model of true discipleship and of complete faith, we are invited to follow Christ. Aware of Mary’s motherly presence and love, during this month of Mary, let's offer to God through her all and our intentions, as well our joys as our worries and our sorrows.
Let us learn from her how to love and trust God completely and how to be faithful witnesses of the risen Lord. With confidence, let us listen to Mary, who tells us again as she did to the servants at Cana: "Do whatever he tells you" (John 2:5).
