Hello there, welcome to Eat Cambridge.

So this is it; Cambridge’s very own annual food and drink festival is here at last and there is a line up of events so exciting that we could burst.

This is your guide to the week-long extravaganza. Have a nosey, see what takes your fancy and get booked up. The festival will run from 8-15 March, and beyond in fact, we got a bit carried away, and there’s something to suit every taste and all budgets.

Take some time to chat to the independent producers, restaurateurs and the food fanatics involved, they are passionate about what they do and want to tell you more. This really is the ideal time to discover your local pantry – those

items that you might not have known about before but once you taste them they’ll become part of your weekly food shop forever. Everyone involved in Eat Cambridge is independent and local and would love your continued support long after the festival is over.

So please do nibble, devour and gulp your way through the week. Every single event is unique and exciting and will give you a real flavour of the fantastic things going on in Cambridge.

11am ShOP LOcAL Cambridge tour guide Allan Brigham will be telling us all why we should shop ‘Independent Cambridge.’ Be warned: the last talk we saw him give involved him chucking bread into the audience, so you can expect similar antics.

11.30am GOG MAGOG FARM ShOP PRESENT… chEESE An expert from Neal’s Yard Dairy and local cheesemaker, Elizabeth Harris (who makes a glorious goat’s cheese called Childwickbury) will be giving a talk on British Cheese.

11.50am ThE MEDITERRANEAN DIET Dr Simon Poole of Positively Good for You olive oils will be discussing the many benefits of the Mediterranean diet and how it can (quite possibly) add 14 healthy years to your life.

A celebration of fabulous food which is also very good for you.

12.10pm GROw yOuR OwN A comprehensive guide on veggie growing from Jo Cobb, head gardener at Murray Edwards College.

12.40pm ThE MAGIc OF SOuR DOuGh Tine Roche, founder of Cambridge Cookery School and artisan baker, will talk about her passion for sour dough and how this ancient bread making technique can help improve our health.
