In the waters of the baptismal pool or font we break away from the values and beliefs of an old life and pass through into new ones. The white garments of the newly-baptized are an outward sign of becoming alive to all that is good. Adult baptisms in particular should make us reflect on the depth of our own commitment. Are we walking around as if wearing an invisible white garment of sanctifying grace? What happens at our baptism prefigures what will happen at our death. The promise of Easter is the promise that death will not be a “dead-end”, empty of meaning, with nothing coming after. Jesus died to lay down a pattern for us. Our death, like his, will be a passage from a limited way of living in this world to the richer, fuller way of living in the world to come. The Christian meaning of death is dying for a purpose. This Easter, when we receive the sprinkling of baptismal water, let us remember and take heart from this: - We belong to Christ. We will break through sin and death to live with Him. ALLELUIA! [G.M. Based on material published in Bishop Ken Untener’s “ Little Books”, U.S.A., 2011.] Easter Sunday

The children began Holy Week learning about Palm Sunday. And then there was the washing of the feet and the Last Supper. The younger students love ‘doing’ those things to remind them of what
Jesus did for us and what He wants us to do.
Our Year 8’s were again outstanding in giving their all to present the Stations of the Cross. Congratulations to Carter Jones who was Jesus and Charlotte Lyall who was Mary, and all the Year 8
students who participated prayerfully and respectfully.
Happy Easter everyone. Alleluia! Alleluia! He is Risen!!!

Sacred Heart College- A message from Maria Neville-Foster, Principal ‘I had the wonderful experience of my first ever Fia Fia on the 23rd of March. It was amazing to experience the Pasifika culture in an authentic setting. The native languages, the traditional performances and the interaction among the families was enlightening. I want you to know that culture is something that I hold very dear to my heart and I will be encouraging all our girls at Sacred Heart College to embrace their culture whether it be Pasifika, Maori, Irish, European or New Zealand. It is imperative that our young people know where they come from and who they are on the inside. When they know this, they can stand confidently and succeed socially, emotionally and intellectually. I am looking forward to connecting with more of you in the coming months. If you ever need support or have a question about your daughter’s education, you are very welcome to talk to any of us at Sacred Heart College. Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Easter. God Bless’
