GAUGE 26 sts and 32 rows = 10cm / 4” in stockinette stitch using 3.25mm (US 3) needles. Make sure to twist yarns in the same direction after each stitch in one row. SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS st(s) – stitch(es) k – knit SSK – slip, slip, knit these 2 stitches together MC – main color CC – contrast color INSTRUCTIONS With MC cast on 33 sts, divide all sts between 4 needles (8, 8, 8 and 9 sts), then join sts in round by knitting first and last sts together. Now you have 32 sts on 4 needles. Place a stitch marker at the place of join. Work 4 rounds in garter stitch (knit all sts in rounds 1 and 3, purl all sts in rounds 2 and 4). Then continue working in stockinette stitch as follows: Rounds 5-8: *k4 with CC, k4 with MC*, repeat from * to * to end of the round Rounds 9-12: *k4 with MC, k4 with CC*, repeat from * to * to end of the round Round 13: *with CC – k1, SSK, k1, with MC – k1, SSK, k1*, repeat from * to * to end of the round Rounds 14-15: *k3 with CC, k3 with MC*, repeat from * to * to end of the round Round 16: *with MC – k1, SSK, with CC – k1, SSK*, repeat from * to * to end of the round Round 17: *k2 with MC, k2 with CC*, repeat from * to * to end of the round Cut yarn, thread through remaining 16 sts, pull tight and secure the yarn. With MC yarn make a pompom 3cm (1.25”) in diameter and attach it to the top of the hat. Weave in ends. A cute outfit for an Easter egg is ready. Make more hats in different colors for added fun.
