“Eastenders” is set in East London in the present working class area and broadcasted by the “BBC”. We know this because we can see the river Tames and the Millennium dome in the title sequence.

We gather from the music that the programme is quite

mundane and groggy. We understand that isn’t going to be a happy programme and the music prepares us

for this. It’s set in a depressing way so it makes viewers feel better about

their life's.

The use of props in these shots allows the audience to know that their are children living in the house. Because they are blue and pink it constructs the idea that the are boy and girl. And them male items are large letting us know that the boy may be a teenager.

Because we see a man hastily leaving in an over the shoulder shot then a woman appears in long shot on the stairs performing the action of tying up her dressing gown it allows us to realise that they have just been intimate together and that she may have more attachment to him because she wanted a goodbye.

The misc en scene is constructed to show us a messy, grubby place with old fashioned decorating to emphasis the class of this person. It shows she may not be able to afford to do the place up, and doesn’t have time to (or maybe not care enough) to clean. Giving the over impression of a lower class house.
