RED DOOR DONATIONS The Red Door has significant space problems accepting donations at Christmas. To ease this situation for them yet continue our support for their mission, donating gift cards from many possible stores on their request list would help and the small space demand would be a gift in itself. Grocery Cards in any amount from No Frills, Food Basics, Price Chopper, Metro or Loblaws, and Department store cards, Mall cards and iTunes gift cards would be most welcome. The guild will also be collecting cash at the November meeting and a cheque will be written from the guild for the total amount collected. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art, after attending Sheridan School of Design. Her main focus was weaving, and majored in Textile Design. She continued her studies in textile sciences at the University of Guelph. While at OCA Barb was introduced to hand painted silk. She was intrigued by the ability to produce and control colour on fabric, particularly silk. For more than 20 years Barb developed her own silk painting techniques, selling and exhibiting her scarves under the company name of Angles in both Canada and the U.S. Barb had won several awards for her silk painting. Although she no longer pursues the production end of the craft; she still enjoys exploring and developing surface design techniques on cotton and silk creating one of a kind pieces. Currently she is pursuing techniques in the manipulation of cloth.
