Die Heuwels Fantasties are...

Die Heuwels Fantasties is an Afrikaans
Alternative Pop Rock group from Bellville,
Cape Town in South Africa. This ground-
breaking group is considered to be
the first successful Afrikaans electronic
act. The group describe their music
as “melodic songs written on acoustic
guitar, interpreted with electronic and
organic instruments. You can call it pop.”
Die Heuwels Fantasties was formed in
the beginning of 2008 when both Hunter
Kennedy- and Pierre Greeff’s bands took
a break. They formed their own record
label, Supra Familias, at the same time.
Hunter is currently also involved with
Fokofpolisiekar and was involved with
aKING. Pierre was in Lukraaketaar.
They are revered for their unique music
and their energetic live performances
and have gathered a large and wide
fan base since their inception in 2008.

all the major festivals in South Africa
and has shared the stage with notable

international acts, including opening
for Kings of Leon in 2012. They have also
toured to the Netherlands, Belgium and
UK in 2010.
Die Heuwels Fantasties have won every
notable award in South Africa for their
music and music videos. Their first album,
Die Heuwels Fantasties and their second
album, Wilder as die Wildtuin, both
reached Gold status in sales. Their third
album, Alles wat Mal is, reached Gold
within three months after its release in
February 2013.
In May 2013 they released a live DVD,
Live of Paul Cluver, which captures the
magic of their live performances. Wens
jy was hier (Wish you were here) was
released in December 2013. This is a
deluxe album comprising of an EP with
five brand new tracks, the Alles wat Mal
is album and the Live op Paul Cluver
DVD. This album debuted at Number 1
on the day of its release on iTunes on
December 3rd.
December 2014 saw the release of
their greatest hits vinyl, Deuntjies vir die
Draaifatel, as well as their fourth full
length album, Ja.Nee.Lekker. In 2015,

A lthough there are benefits to spending time in the sun, such as getting vitamin D, too much sun can be
harmful. There are a number of things you can do to prevent damage to your body from the sun. The main ones are listed below.
Find shade, especially when the sun is at its strongest between 11am and 3pm.
Check the UV index. This is a measure of UV radiation. The higher the number the less time it takes for your skin to burn and the higher the potential for damage.
Cover your skin and eyes. This means wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and long-sleeved tops, trousers or a long skirt. Your sunglasses should have 100% UV protection.
Use a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays. Choose one that gives you a sun
protection factor (SPF) of at least 15, which will protect you against UVB rays. Sunscreens that also protect against UVA rays have a star rating, and the more stars it has the more protection from UVA rays there is.
Use sunscreen regularly and generously. You should use about two teaspoons of sunscreen for your head, neck and arms, and two tablespoons for your whole body when you’re wearing a swimsuit. Reapply sunscreen every two hours, or more often if you go swimming or sweat a lot.
Some UV radiation passes through light cloud so you still need to protect yourself if it’s cloudy.
Young skin is sensitive and very easily damaged by the sun so it’s important to protect babies and young children. If you get sunburnt as a child, it increases your chances of developing skin cancer as an adult. Use a sunscreen suitable for your baby or child. Hats that cover the back of the neck and ears, and clothes and swimsuits that have a high protection factor can both help to protect your child.

In 2014, a handful of visionary local artists established the first Benoni Art Route which is held on the last Sunday of the month between 10am and 3pm.
With the dedication of local artists and support of local sponsors the 2015 Art Route has continued encouraging visitors to discover talented artists in their own environment or at local venues where they can combine the art experience with a welcome refreshment or bite of lunch.
The Art Route’s steering committee, made up of several dedicated Art Route artists, work hard to ensure that the Art Route runs smoothly and is a feast for the eyes. With the inclusion of guest artists there is always something new to see each month.
The Benoni Art Route is committed to being an artist-run event which not only shares the talent of the participating artists, but encourages the love of art in others. The Art Route has had the pleasure this year of inviting art students from local high schools to exhibit their art on the Route.
The Benoni Art Route Fair will be bringing the 2015 Benoni Art Route to an exciting close. The Fair will provide the opportunity to view the fabulous art works of the Artists and Guest artists in a group exhibition. The opening night of the Fair is on the 4th of December at the Reformed Church, 24 Miles Sharp Street, Rynfield, Benoni. Entry to this cheese and wine event is by ticket only, and these will be available to purchase for R30.00 from any participating artists.
If you are a lover of art you don’t want to miss the opportunity of viewing this exhibition, meeting the artists and enjoying a glass of wine with fellow art lovers. A percentage of the proceeds from sales will be donated to Victus Christi, a non-profit charity organisation.

Paptertserves 8 – 10
Ingredients1 litre water
10 ml salt
625 ml mielie-meal
30 ml butter
250 ml grated cheddar cheese
MethodBring water and salt to the boil. Mix the mielie-meal with some water to form a smooth paste. Add paste to the salted water and stir to prevent clumping. Turn the heat down and cover the pot. Let the pap stand for about 10 minutes. Stir the butter and cheese through.
Filling15 ml butter
250 g streaky bacon, diced
250 g mushrooms, sliced
1 onion, finely chopped
1 can (410 g) sweet corn kernels, drained
2 cans (400 g each) chopped tomatoes
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
250 ml cream
250 g cheddar, grated
about 10 fresh basil leaves, torn
MethodPreheat oven to 180 °C. Melt butter in a pan and sauté bacon, mushrooms and onion together. Grease an oven dish of about 30 x 20 cm with a little butter. Put half the pap at the bottom of the dish, then spoon the bacon mixture on top. Spread the sweet corn kernels and one can of tomatoes on top. Season with salt and black pepper. Cover with the rest of the pap. The last can of tomatoes goes on top, followed by cream and cheddar. Bake for 30 – 40 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm, with braaivleis.
Nutella popsicles
These Nutella popsicles are made with just two ingredients. They taste a bit like a chocolate Paddle Pop but you can make them at home and the kids will love them. Serves 6
Ingredients
1 cup full cream milk
1/3 cup Nutella
Method
1· Gather all ingredients and popsicle moulds.
2. Place the milk and Nutella in a blender and blend until thoroughly combined.
3. Pour into a popsicle moulds.
4. Freeze and serve

Solly and Yakoob are the two living founders of the Adams Discount Centre Brand. This May the store celebrated
its 80th birthday. “The store was no mistake” said Solly & Yakoob Adam, who are the trademark for the store and recognized by their beaming smile, the beard, the long robes and the pride in helping customers. Solly and Yakoob are the sons of Mr. Adam, who started the store selling groceries and Dutch medicines in the 1930’s on the corner of one of the windiest streets in lower Doornfontein, Siemert Road and Error street. The stores original name was Adams Cash Store. The Store changed its name to Adams Hampers as it packaged groceries and kitchenware into hampers and agents were employed to sell them. They explained that the store maintained its same formula of making items affordable and of high quality and this in turn kept the store popular among its clientele.Adams integrated a philosophy of hard work ethic into the store and took pride in good customer service. A trait that has stuck with the store
over the past 80 years. The store begun to stock classy dinnerware/crockery brands, such as Royal Albert, Noritake, including Silverware, Domestic Appliances which also later stocked Linen and duvets. The family then operated from the Adams Doornfontein landmark building in the mid-80s and while they have since repositioned themselves in different communities, Adams still holds its original landmark home as a small portion of memories.Moving to Fourways 15 years ago and having watched the developments grow around them, It was around this time that Solly and Yakoob has taken over the business after Mr Adam passed away in 1998. Mr Yakoob Adam has been the pioneer in the succession and expansion of the business to the East Rand. The newly born Adams store in Boksburg will be 3 years in May 2016.Adams Clientele travel nationwide to the Adams Stores and are known across borders with our African neighbours. Keeping in touch with technology and the Social Media Platform, Adams has created their presence on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.Adams has recently launched their on-line shopping site this year October.
