Page 2: Earth’s Structure Will K, Andrew B, and Jack R. Earth’s Core Core: a sphere of hot metal at the center of Earth 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit Inner core is.

Earth’s Core • Core: a sphere of hot metal at the

center of Earth • 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit • Inner core is solid, but the outer

core is hot liquid metal

Page 3: Earth’s Structure Will K, Andrew B, and Jack R. Earth’s Core Core: a sphere of hot metal at the center of Earth 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit Inner core is.

Mantle

• Mantle: Thick rocky layer around the core• 3,300 degrees Fahrenheit • Solid but able to flow

Page 4: Earth’s Structure Will K, Andrew B, and Jack R. Earth’s Core Core: a sphere of hot metal at the center of Earth 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit Inner core is.

Crust • Crust: Thin layer of rocks and minerals

that surrounds the mantle • Thin in the ocean• Thick under mountains • Heat and movements in the mantle change

the formation of the crust

Earth’s Atmosphere

• Atmosphere: a thick layer of gases in

the air • Holds heat from the sun • This makes life possible

Water • Makes up 75% of Earth • 97% is Ocean • 3% is fresh water

Land

• Landforms: shapes and types of land • Make up 25% of Earth • Landforms include mountains, volcanoes, and

plains
