Page 2: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

• How beautiful you are, Earth, and how sublime!

Page 3: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

How perfect your obedience to the light, and how noble in your submission to the sun!

Page 4: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

I have walked your plains,

Page 5: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

I have climbed your stony mountains;

Page 6: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

I have descended into your valleys:

Page 7: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

I have entered your caves.

Page 8: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

On the plains I have discovered your dreams,

Page 9: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

On the mountains I have admired your splendid presence.

Page 10: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

And in the valleys I have observed your tranquility;

Page 11: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

In the caves I have touched your mysteries.

Page 12: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

We pierce your bosom with swords and spears.

Page 13: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

And you dress our wounds with oil and balsam

Page 14: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

We plant your fields with skull and bones.

Page 15: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

And from them you rear cypress and willow trees,

Page 16: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

We empty our wastes in your bosom, and you fill

Page 17: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

Our threshing floors with wheat sheaves,

Page 18: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

And our winepresses with grapes.

Page 19: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

We extract your elements to make

Page 20: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

Cannons and bombs but out of

Page 21: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

Our elements you create lilies and roses

Page 22: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

How patient you are Earth, and how merciful!

Page 23: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

Are you an atom of dust raised by

Page 24: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

The feet of God when He journeyed from

Page 25: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

The east to the West of the Universe?

Page 26: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

Who are you, Earth, and what are you?

Page 27: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

You are “I”, Earth!

Page 28: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

You are my sight and my discernment.

Page 29: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

You are my knowledge and my dream

Page 30: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

You are my hunger and my thirst.

Page 31: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

You are my sorrow and my joy.

Page 32: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

You are the beauty that lives in my eyes

Page 33: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

The longing in my heart, the everlasting life in

Page 34: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

My soul!

Page 35: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

You are “I”, Earth,

Page 36: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

Had it not been for my being,

Page 37: Earth Poem by Kahlil Gibran

You would not have been!
