2019TRASH & RECYCLING

INFORMATION

Each household will receive one 95 gallon container in the Spring. Excess trash beyond capacity of the container provided may be placed at the curb as well. An additional container may be purchased through Waste Management for $85 by calling 1.800.866.4460. (See Page 2 for important new recycling changes for 2019).

• Residential trash, recycling, and yard waste/leaf material is to be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Trash and recycling may be placed out the night before after 6:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. winter months). Remove empty containers no later than 12:00 midnight on the day of collection.

• A special collection may be scheduled with Waste Management at 1.800.866.4460 for excessive amounts of trash. Fees apply.

• All bagged or bundled trash must be a manageable weight that one person can safely lift. The contractor is not responsible for the collection of any item outlined in this brochure that is not properly prepared.

• The contractor is not responsible for the cleanup of trash, recycling, or yard waste/leaf material disturbed or scattered by weather, animals or other causes.

• Report legitimate trash misses to the Public Works Department at 412.831.9000 x 271.

• It may be necessary to delay or cancel trash/recycling collection during inclement weather. Refer to the Township website (www.twpusc.org), Facebook, Twitter or Cable 7 for details.

CURBSIDE TRASH COLLECTION:Trash is collected once a week per the street listings on Pages 6 and 7. Trash is to be placed at the curb after 6:00 P.M. the night before or before 6:00 A.M. the day of collection.

• Trash should be in trash cans or secured plastic bags until the automated system begins.

• Large items such as furniture or appliances are limited to 2 per week

• Carpeting should be rolled and tied not to exceed 48 inches in length, one room per week

• Grass clippings and yard waste. Refer to page 3 for Saturday leaf and yard waste curbside collections and residential drop-off events

• Empty or dried cans of paint – lids removed

• Bagsters are permitted to be placed at the curb; however, they are required to be filled and removed in a timely manner

SINGLE STREAM CURBSIDE RECYCLING:

Place recycling at the curb after 6:00 P.M. the night before or before 6:00 A.M. the day of collection. Refer to yellow highlighted dates on calendar Additional bins are available through the Public Works Department. Due to changes in the recycling industry beginning January 1, 2019 there will be changes to the types of materials you will be recycling.

The contractor will be checking to make sure these items and other contaminants are not in the containers; if so they will not be collected. Recycling is to be placed in Township issued automated recycling bins only and is picked up every other week on regular trash day.

Ecycling is the recycling of electronic equipment (anything with a cord including large electric appliances). There is a $15 charge for anything containing Freon. One (1) television per vehicle per

collection accepted. Collection is in the parking lot of the Community & Recreation Center located at 1551 Mayview Road from 10:00 – 2:00
