History of Mars• In 1877 Giovanni Schiaparelli an Italian astronomer was the

first person to draw a map of mars. In 1910 the U.S. astronomer Percival Lowell made observations which he put in a book. It inspired science fiction writers to write books such as The Princess of Mars, God of Mars, etc. A famous movie called Total Recall starring Arnold Schwarzenegger captured lots of attention. Through 1960-1970 NASA launched the U.S. Mariner and the Viking mission.
