Whiffle Ball is already scheduled, the golf/horseshoe tourna- ment is in the plans, the family picnic is a go as Robert Spencer and Steve Lindsey have stepped up and offered to co-chair the event, as well as many other events. Please keep an eye on the newsletter or web site for the current information. One of my goals for this next year is to get more of our members to utilize the Aerie on a more regular basis. So please let me know what you would like to see. As always remember our motto, “If we cannot speak well of an Eagle I will not speak ill of him”. Larry Warren, Worthy President Congratulations to all the 2017 elected officials. A joint installation ceremony was held on Sunday, June 4th for the Ae- rie and Auxiliary. We are all very excited for the upcoming year with many special events and activities for all to enjoy and participate. A big shout out and thank you to our outgoing officers for their service. If you are looking to be more active in your Auxiliary or Aerie, now is the time. New committees are being formed and volunteers are needed for the many “afore- mentioned” functions and events. Please contact me or any of the Auxiliary officers if you are interested in helping or if you have any ideas or suggestions to promote the good of this Auxiliary. This year marks our 11th anniversary in our “New Building” and we are plan- ning to celebrate this occasion on 11/11/17. R.C. Carrier Please mark your calendars now as this promises to be the “Party of the Year!” As most of you know, our Auxil- iary Meat Raffles have ended for the summer months and will re- sume in September. Please refer to your newsletter for other sum- mer happenings at our club. Thank you all for supporting our Aerie and Auxiliary; and best wishes for a “Safe and Hap- py Summer!” Hope to see you at the club! Lori Anderson, Madam President Looking for ideas and volunteers We are looking at possibly a late September or early October date to do a Golf/Shoe Tournament to raise funds for one of the Eagles major National charities. To accomplish this goal, we would need a lot of vol- unteers plus new ideas of things to add to enhance the event and get full support and participation. It has been a long time since we have done something es- pecially for one of the many major chairites that are a part of the Eagles goals nationally. If you are inter- ested in helping or have some ideas, please contact Juanita Peter to be a part of the planning. Thank You I am looking forward to a fun and suc- cessful riding season this year. A “BIG” thank you to everyone for supporting our Blue Water Riders group and I hope to see you all at our upcoming planned events such as the the Al Greenia Me- morial Pets for Vets Ride on July 15th and the Rider’s Games Day on Septem- ber 16th. There are ads with ride details on page 4 of this newsletter. Please join us for a fun day of activities as well as a fun ride! OPening the dOOr fOr Other members Or guests: We are again reminding ALL members dO nOt OPen the dOOr fOr Others. There are valid reasons for this policy: I) The bartender on duty can ensure guests are signed in (In compliance with MLCC laws). 2) The person entering is not de-linquent in dues, or a dropped member. 3) The person ringing the doorbell may need to see an officer of the Aerie. We do understand that you may just be trying to help if you are sitting close to the door but it is the job of an employee to buzz the person(s) in.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, The elections are over and a new group of officers are chomping at the bit to run our Aerie. I would like to wish all of you the best. I’m sure you’ll do your best for the Aerie, but a familiar figure will not be a part of this group. He has been an officer for quite a long time. He has much knowledge and insight into the inner workings of our Aerie. I would think it wise to seek his advice and counsel whenever possible. That man is Lyle McLane. He has done lots for our Aerie. He was an integral part of the reshaping of our Aerie. Most notably from our old Aerie on Water Street, to our current location. Lyle has put in countless hours to help with the advancement of our Aerie. I would personally like to say “Thank You Lyle for all that you have done for us here at Port Huron”. I would also encourage each and every one of you to thank Lyle when you see him. Lord knows it’s the least we can do for someone who has done so much. Thank you again Lyle.

Sip ‘n Dip Sip ‘n Dip was a lot of fun for the partic-ipants that showed up on April 29th at the Eagles. This was the 2nd time this event was held. It’s too bad that the 25 people that said they were going to attend didn’t as this was a fundraiser. Participants with their finished pictures.

Named Mr. Eagle in District 3 F.O.E. Blue Water Aerie 3702 PWP Ron Barr has been named Mr. Eagle for 2017-2018 by the Eagles Dis-trict 3. Ron has held many offices at our Aerie and in District 3 including President of both in past years. Congratulations Ron for a job well done. Being named “Mr. Eagle” is a very prestigious honor bestowed on an Eagle Mem-ber and everyone should be proud that one of our very own has received this very high honor in Eagledom.

Phones for Vets Thanks to everyone who has donated cell phones. A third box will be turned over to Blue Water Blue Star Mothers for proper processing. These donated phones are reconditioned and sent to troops overseas along with prepaid minutes cards so they can be used to call home to their loved ones. Gary Thorley and Fran Graham have been instru-mental in looking after the box for this project and can answer any questions you might have pertaining to this program.

Proper disposal of American Flags If you have an old worn out in disrepair, faded or no longer serviceable American Flag, please bring it (them) to the Aerie and drop them off in a mark designated box located in the social room near the entrance door. They will be properly retired during a ceremony at the Post #8 American Legion assisted by the Boy Scouts from the area. The Aerie has been instrumental in working with the American Legion in this effort for some years. Not only is this another community service but it also allows members to property dispose of old flags. When this ceremony is planned, the date, time and place will be posted and members of the community are invited to attend. Fran Graham assists in looking after this pro-gram at the Aerie and I could not do it without her help.
