Eagle Express 05/16/2014 SAYDEL ACTIVITIES DEPARTMENT Saydel Golf This past Saturday the Saydel Golf team traveled to Colfax to play in the Colfax-Mingo invitational golf tournament. 9 teams were schedule to participate in the tournament including some of the top teams in 3A. The Eagles finished in 6 th place shooting a 289. This put them ahead of Pleasantville, Ed- dyville, and Grandview Park Baptist. Freshman Joe Boehler led the way for the Eagles shooting a 96. Junior Trey Newman (97), Junior Dylan Hammond (97), and Sophomore Rece Martin (99) also con- tributed to the varsity total. Boehler recorded his second birdie of the season on the par 3 3 rd hole. Hammond also recorded his second birdie on the par 5 4 th hole. Joe Boehler with his trophy from Colfax On Monday the Eagles traveled to the Ames Golf and Country Club to play in a meet against Gilbert, Nevada, South Hamilton, and North Polk. This meet featured some of the top teams in the state. The weather was far from ideal as Saydel battled wind, rain, and cold for the first few holes. Saydel finished with a combined 9-hole varsity total of 184. This marked the best road 9-hole score of the season and was good enough to finish ahead of North Polk by a single stroke. Trey Newman led the Eagles with a 43. Rece Martin (46), Dylan Hammond (47), and Jake Hokanson (48) counted to- wards the varsity total. Joe Boehler also added a 48 for Saydel. This win marked the 17 th for Saydel Golf on the season against 14 different opponents. Today the Eagles travel to Oskaloosa to compete in their sectional meet at the Edmundson Golf Course. This meet is the start of the postseason for Saydel. The team and/or individuals can advance to next Friday’s district meet by placing today. The Saydel Golf banquet is scheduled for Wednesday May 21 st at Hilltop Restaurant starting at 6:15 PM.

Girls Tennis The Girls Tennis season was to be concluded last night with a meet against
Pella Christian, but as the season started, it ended with rainy weather that
canceled the meet. Girls Tennis would like to recognize their 3 seniors -
Olivia Hockey, Mackenzie Miller, and Randa Patrick.
The Girls Tennis Banquet will be held on May 20th in the High School Caf-
eteria at 6pm, parents are welcome.
Thanks to the tennis players for a great year.
The Saydel Community School District will say goodbye to the Class of 2014 this Sunday at the high
school gym beginning at 2:00. The gym is generally packed for this event so we suggest coming early
to get a good seat. If you are not able to attend or know of someone that cannot make it, you have the
ability to watch the ceremony online on the new Saydel High School Cube. Go to the link below to
