2020 North Carolina Beta Convention

Two BYSHS students earned the right to attend the National Beta Convention in Fort Worth, Texas this summer! Alivia Mims, the club president, is the state runner-up in Speech for Division II, competing against juniors and seniors. Hunter Pruitt, who coordinates the club's tutoring program, earned fifth place in Math for Division II.

Over 4,000 students attended the convention from clubs all over NC! .

Enclosed Corridor Stoney Creek Elem School....

with the enclosed corridor at Stoney

Creek Elementary- School. We are waiting on the final approval of plans

from NCDPI. According to the corridor panel vendor, it should take less than two weeks to complete the project, when approved!

Caswell County Schools is happy to announce the launch of the "Say Something Anonymous Reporting System" (SS-ARS). This program teaches students, teachers, and administrators how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and Say Something to a trusted adult or use its anonymous reporting system. Specifically, the program educates participants to:

• Recognize the signs and signals of at-risk behaviors - especially within social media • Take every sign and signal seriously; act quickly to get help by talking to a trusted adult OR • Report it anonymously through SS-ARS 24/7 Crisis Center, mobile app, or website

Caswell County Schools completed training earlier this month for students in grades 6 - 12. Information and resources have been posted to the district and school websites under Say Something Anonymous Reporting System including a parent handbook.

Our technologx team has been working diliguntlx with <i contractor to install the additional security surveillance cameras and access control (keyless entry) software, card readers, and the additional wiring

needed for implementation of the security upgrade , in 4 Mr existing schools. .these upgrades are scheduled to

he completed by the end of February.

BYSHS Construction Update is soon as the weather permits, the 1st phase of

construction will begin! the first step to build the eittporarx classrooms (future field house) which will

he located in the athletic complex between the baseball and softball areas. A lot of paperwork is taking place on the second phase, which consists of designing classrooms and features that allow our

students to have the same learning opportunities as other students in North Carolina! Over the summer

months, demolition is scheduled to take place.

Do you want to know when the school bus is almost at your bus stop? The Here Comes the Bus app (an app that you can download onto your Smartphone) is expected to be up and running by the end of March! This app will allow you to know in advance when the school bus is approaching your bus stop! Once the app is up and running, directions for downloading the app will be provided to you by the Transportation Department.

Interested in becoming a CCS Bus Driver? Do you want to earn extra money? The next CDL class is scheduled for April 6-8th at the CCS Transportation Department. Contact Mr. Chuck Hudson, Transportation Director, at 336-694-4116, Ext. 91, to become part of our team!
