By the time you read this, we should have a much better idea of what the
month of May will have in store for us. We will then be able to tailor our
expectations and plans to meet the Ohio road map for loosening the
COVID-19 restrictions.
We are all eager to get our Miatas on the road. They are cleaned, polished
and ready to meet up with our fellow members, in whatever manner the
constraints allow. As Vice President Dan Splichal noted during our board
meeting: “Six feet apart is better than six feet under.”
Our virtual meeting went well, and we had a bit of comic relief because
one participant could not quite get it together. (Unfortunately, it was me.)
Our thanks to Todd Tannehill and Tom Walden, who prepared and
orchestrated the meeting. The video of that meeting is now on the
Members Only site for your viewing pleasure.
Dan Splichal also had another suggestion: We all have access to the names
and addresses of our members, so why not give someone a call just to
keep in touch? Maybe you will find a few people who live near you and
arrange an impromptu get together or ride.
We expect to resume our meetings and activities for the entire
membership at some point but, in the meantime, let’s do what we can to
stay connected.

Meeting Minutes… April 16, 2020 Via Zoom from our homes Page 2
The regular membership meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 19th was cancelled, and the April 16th meeting was replaced with a virtual on-line "Zoom " meeting including the officers and activity organizers . Much thanks to Todd Tannehill and Tom Walden for organizing and making it happen. REPORTS:
President: Dennis Beckman Called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm. Dennis reported that due to the current Virus
reality, meetings, dinners and tours will be significantly dependent on the State and Federal restrictions/guidelines. At some
point, small 5 car groups may be able to do a run, with picnic or carry out food. To Be Determined.
Vice President: Daniel Splichal - Dan reported that he contacted local authorities about tours, and they recommended a 10
person (5 car) limit. He noted that Metro parks have many roads closed to cars, and picnic tables in pavilions are taped off.
It is a gray area whether fun drives are permitted, until Ohio's Stay at Home order is loosened. Dan recommended that in
the meantime, club members could bond with their Miatas by washing, waxing, and changing their own oil.
Treasurer: Tiffany Fonner -The ending balance as of 04/16/20 is $16,723.50. Latest financial report will be listed in the
Members Only Section of the Website.
Secretary: Jim Lambert - The recorded attendance was 11, including Officers, Committee Chairs and "Virtual setup guys"
Todd and Tom.

Two Day Trip to Dearborn Michigan September 15 - 16, 2020 Hosted by Dave and Pamela Handley
F Y I – Sign up details and hotel info to be provided soon.
1st Day
Morning Drive to Dearborn
Afternoon Ford Rouge Assembly Plant Walking Tour
One of the top attractions is the walking tour of the Dearborn Truck Plant, where the new military-grade
aluminum-alloy-body Ford F-150 truck is made. The elevated walkway, a 1/3 mile journey, provides you with a unique
bird’s-eye view of the plant’s final assembly line. You’ll see firsthand the complex web of equipment, robotics, parts
delivery and skilled workers that come together to build one truck per minute at full line speeds–yes, you read that right:
one truck a minute.
2nd Day
Morning and early afternoon Ford Museum of American Innovation A
world where past innovations fuel the imagination of generations to come. A vibrant exploration of genius in all its forms,
Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation allows you to experience the strides of America’s greatest minds while fully
immersing yourself in their stories. Step inside the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand, by taking a seat. Play pilot as you
explore flight innovations, starting with the Wright brothers' achievements, or make yourself at home inside Buckminster
Fuller’s circular Dymaxion House.
Midafternoon / early evening Drive home
Sweat’n & Bet’n Tour (August 29, 2020) Todd & Dee Tannehill and Tony & Lisa Terlesky
Named as a play on words for the “Freeze your butt off tour,” this tour departs from Canfield, OH. We will travel a short distance to White House Farms - a club favorite on other drives.
After some curves down 1-70 we will make a short stop in Beaver State Park for a “Bio-Break” and then continue on some great Northeast Ohio roads (including 164 out of Lisbon, OH)
We will enjoy some curves at a safe pace, cross the Newell Bridge in East Liverpool, OH and eventually arrive at the Mountaineer Casino in WV. The tour ends here with a buffet meal and plenty to do on your own for the rest of the day. For those wanting to make an evening of it – the Casino has given us a special rate.
This tour is currently full; email [email protected] if you would like to be placed on the standby list.

First, I would like to thank the Northcoast Club President and officers for videotaping the virtual club meeting in April. Since I viewed the meeting, I heard your request for any submissions to the Newsletter. Well here is something for those who like Sudoku, crossword, and mind teasers - a Miata Word Search. I created one specifically with Puzzlemaker at DiscoveryEducation.com It is a fun, free website for creation of any themed word search.

Miata Members, With the “shelter in place” still in effect, it is time to make alternative meeting plans starting in June. Mike Kerklo suggested we arrange to meet in parking lots of vacant stores. We could hold our meetings each month at a different location around the city and still keep our distance. I diagramed how we could set this up and believe it would work out okay. Any ideas for possible locations? Thanks. Dennis
Would love to hear from our members about their drives around town while we are still
unable to meet in large groups. To get us started I will tell you about our May 1st drive around
our new town. Bob and I moved to Liverpool Township on April 1st and, after a month of
unpacking boxes and moving cars around, we decided to take an evening off and see what
there was to find in our new neighborhood. Here is a photo array of the event!!
