As we enter the holiday season, the month that brings our chronological year to an end and almost marks the midway point of the 2019-2020 school year, it brings us to a moment to pause and reflect. I always said that the year 2020 is the year we will all see clearly (OK that was a bad joke). I always find this time of year a time to reflect on how I can be a better parent and educator. You have heard me state in the past, I am always looking for ways to have our children increase their lifelong health, happiness, suc- cess, and joy in life. The following passage was a good reminder for me to take the time to be more positive, patient, and intentional in my interactions with my children and the students who I interact with on a daily basis at Edison Middle School. "I got two A's" the small boy said. His voice was filled with glee. His father very bluntly asked, "Why didn't you get three?" Mom, I've got the dishes done," The girl called from the door. Her mother very calmly said, "Did you sweep the floor?" The children in the house next door Seemed happy and content. The same things happened over there, But this is how it went: "I got two A's" the small boy said. His voice was filled with glee. His father proudly said, "That's great; I'm glad you belong to me." "Mom, I've got the dishes done," The girl called from the door. Her mother smiled and softly said, "Each day I love you more." Children deserve a little praise For tasks they're asked to do, If they're to lead a happy life, So much depends on you. Thank you for being part of our Edison Family! Soar to new heights! December already?? As we enter the holiday season, the month that brings our chronological year to an end and almost marks the
midway point of the 2019-2020 school year, it brings us to a moment to pause and reflect. I always said that the year 2020 is the year
we will all see clearly (OK that was a bad joke). I always find this time of year a time to reflect on how I can be a better parent and
educator.
You have heard me state in the past, I am always looking for ways to have our children increase their lifelong health, happiness, suc-
cess, and joy in life. The following passage was a good reminder for me to take the time to be more positive, patient, and intentional
in my interactions with my children and the students who I interact with on a daily basis at Edison Middle School.
"I got two A's" the small boy said. His voice was filled with glee. His father very bluntly asked, "Why didn't you get three?"
Mom, I've got the dishes done," The girl called from the door. Her mother very calmly said, "Did you sweep the floor?"
The children in the house next door Seemed happy and content.
The same things happened over there, But this is how it went:

Edison Student Services
It’s Time to Schedule Classes for the 2020-21 School Year!
Current 8th Grade Students
During the month of January, all students will be registering for next school year. Preble
school counselors will be visiting Edison on Tuesday, January 14th to explain elective
class offerings and high school credits to current 8th grade students. Then on January
16th, Preble school counselors will return to Edison to assist our 8th grade students enter-
ing their class choices into Infinite Campus.
Current 6th and 7th Grade Students
Current 6th and 7th grade students will have a classroom registration presentation by their
grade level counselor the first two weeks of January. All students are asked to bring the
registration form and course description book home to their parents/guardians to further
discuss course selections and obtain a parent signature. Students will need to return the
signed and completed registration form by January 10, 2020, to their science teacher.
Please set aside time to look over the registration materials with your child. For any ques-
tions, please contact Edison Student Services at 391-2452.

Notes from the School Nurses
Flu season is coming! There already have been a few cases in the United
States. The CDC recommends getting your flu shot by the end of Octo-
ber. Remember, it takes 2 weeks for your body to make antibodies to pro-
tect you from the flu after receiving your flu shot.
Last year, 138 children died from the flu in the United States and most of
them were healthy without any high-risk medical conditions. Children
who receive the flu vaccine decrease the risk of flu-associated death by
65%.
You should keep your child home if they have a fever. Remind your child to cover their nose and mouth
with a tissue when they cough or sneeze. Tissues should be thrown in the trash immediately after use and
hands should be washed with soap.
Places to get your flu shot:
*Your family doctor
*Local pharmacies, usually at no cost with most insurances
*Brown County Public Health, which has free flu shots for children who are eligible
*A limited supply of flu vaccine available for adults 19 years and older at a cost of $30
*Call Public Health 448-6445 for an appointment
Edison Parent Network December2019
Did you know? When you attend a parent net-
work meeting your name gets entered into a drawing for a $25 Target gift card for the teacher of your choice.
At our September meeting Mr. Froelich was the recipient.
Want to get involved at Edison
but just not sure how?
Parent Network is the perfect way to make a great connection between home and school. There are many opportunities to help throughout the school year and you can pick your level of involvement. The easiest ways to learn about what’s going on or to find out ways you can help are:
Attend evening Parent Network Meetings. They’re very casual and everyone is invited. The next meeting is on December 3 at 6:30pm in the quiet cafeteria.
Put your name on the Parent Network email list. Periodically you’ll receive messages with re-minders and requests for help. No pressure…just opportunities.
To be added to the list, please send an email to Leah Bergstrom: [email protected]
Edison Community: Let's gather together for a beverage, appetizer, or a meal on Monday, January 27th from 4-8 pm at Tucson's Restaurant, located at
2080 Central Drive. Mention "Edison Parent Network" to your server and we will receive 10% of your purchase. Hope to see you all there!
We are thankful for all who came out to Culvers in November, we raised $347!
Also, our goodies sale at the musical on November 22nd was well attended. Thanks to those who grabbed a sweet treat!
