Example Mockup

• Showing Learning Outcomes:

• Microbes are found everywhere even though you can’t see them

• There are three types of microbe (B, V and F) • Sometimes bad microbes can make us sick • Don’t spread your bad microbes to others • Also covers some food hygiene outcomes not in the

pack: • Microbes can be found on our food and can transfer to

humans • Cooking food properly can kill harmful microbes

Mission 1

• Mission 1 was basis of the demo. • Set around a barbeque and covers:

• Hygiene • Spread of infection • Introduction to microbes

Mechanics

• Hand, Respiratory and Food Hygiene o Infection can be spread through unclean hands

o Hand washing can prevent the spread of infection

o Infection can be spread through sneezing and coughing

o Sneezing or coughing in your hand can still spread infection

o Microbes can be found on our food and can transfer to humans

o Cooking food properly can kill harmful microbes

Mission 2

Page 15: e-Bug Senior Game 2008... · Mechanics •Hand, Respiratory and Food Hygiene o Infection can be spread through unclean hands o Hand washing can prevent the spread of infection o Infection

Mission 2

• Mission 2 introduces a ‘superbug’ • Aim is for the player to identify that in places where

there is high antibiotic misuse, resistant bugs are present

• Story starts off in an airport where one person (Allison) was on a flight with someone sick with the bug.

• The player visits a site of good practice and a site of bad practice and finds clues that show why the ‘bad’ practice is bad

• Later, the player performs a ‘mini game’ that shows that the superbug is different because it isn’t killed by the normal antibiotics

Mission 2: Characters

• Allison (sporty girl) • Emerges later on that she’s infected with the superbug

Mission 2: Characters

Dr Pia Diallo ( French Doctor) •Town suffering from superbug •Evidence in her office of in appropriate antibiotic use

Mission 3

• Mission 3 connects poor antibiotic use to real world behavior.

• The story involves • Sports team fallen ill • Sabotage suspected but not the case • Allison (from last mission) stopped taking

antibiotics, causing her illness to come back. • She gave water to sports team, spreading bug • Her coach took her antibiotics for a virus and

now has bad diarrhea
