NEWS

A day after India and China ended their three-week long face-off in Ladakh, the Indian government today said there was no "deal" with China, which also confirmed that the "stand off" has been "terminated" but did not mention whether the status quo in the sector as it existed prior to April 15 will be restored or not. Dismissing speculation of any "deal" while resolving the situation, government sources said the two sides have only agreed to sit and talk about the peace and tranquillity along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) while restoring to the status quo in the sector. Meanwhile, China stopped short of acknowledging that it's troops, which had intruded 19 kms into Indian territory, were going back to position prior to April 15 but said the "stand off incident" has been resolved through "fruitful consultations". In Beijing, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswomen Hua Chunying said in a statement, "China and India

have reached an agreement on resolving the incident in the western section of the border. PLA soldiers in the Daulat Beg Oldi sector of Ladakh, 19 kms inside the Line of Actual Control.

"The frontier forces of the two countries have terminated the standoff at the Tiannan River Valley area". She added, "Since troops from the two sides began facing off in the western section of the China-India border last month, both sides have moved forward and adopted a constructive and cooperative attitude and calmed the tensions through border-related mechanisms, diplomatic channels and border defence meetings". In New Delhi, Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs said India and China have agreed to restore status quo along Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh as it existed prior to April 15. Announcing this, he also said flag meetings have been held to work out modalities and to confirm the arrangements. The spokesperson also officially announced the two-day visit of External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid to China from Thursday. Khurshid and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi "will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues of concern to both sides. They will also discuss the proposed visit to India of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang," he said. "I believe that both sides have the will and capability to properly resolve this incident as soon as possible and jointly maintain the healthy and stable growth of China-India relations," she said. Pressed for more details on the settlement, prompting Chinese troops to agree to dismantle their tents, Hua said "I need to follow closely the latest information". "As I said before the two sides bear in mind the larger interests of bilateral relations have taken a constructive and cooperative attitude and have maintained communication and consultation and have made positive progress," she said.

Asked whether the Chinese troops moved back from their position, when did that happen and how far they withdrew, she replied, "I have said the two sides have been constructive and cooperative and have been maintaining communications through relevant mechanism in the border regions". "Relevant consultations have made positive progress. I know you are very concerned about this and I must tell you the correct information," she said. "I believe the Chinese and Indian sides should maintain peace and tranquillity in the border areas and work for the smooth development of bilateral relations," she said.

Zee News editor Sudhir Chaudhary was denied anticipatory bail in a fresh case. The Delhi Police had registered a case of forgery against Chaudhary for telecasting a programme showing documents which they claimed were part of the CAG report, against Jindal Group in connection with Coalgate. An Additional Sessions Judge rejected Chaudhary's contention that the FIR was filed because his channel was running news against the Jindal group and its involvement in the coal scam. The court said by forging documents, Chaudhary violated the bail condition in a previous case of extortion. Meanwhile, another court rejected Zee News' plea for stay on proceedings in a defamation case filed by Jindal Steel and Power Limited against the channel.

LIFE & STYLE

Contrary to what the countless sitcoms seem to portray, there are plenty of women who want sex more than their male partners. To put the only stereotype of the frigid female to rest - and to shed light on the dissatisfaction a lot of women feel in their sexual relationships -Huffington Post put out a call for stories from women who had been physically involved with a partner who didnt share their sex drive. From age 25 to 65, single, in relationships and married, women wrote about how they have struggled -- or are still struggling -- with the fact that they want sex more than their partners, often much, much more. The stories do not blame men or women for these issues, but showcases that sexual frequency is an issue for partners regardless of gender, age or marital status. Some couples were both tired, stressed, sore, and overworked by the end of the day to make love. But the women like to set aside everything and be intimate with their husbands. Unfortunately, he doesnt have the same ideas. He's too tired, or too sore, or just not in the mood. This calls for the woman accept that she is just going to have to be the aggressor 95 per cent of the time. For some their partners bought them a vibrator so they would be happy and leave him alone. Some have tried making their partner's favorite meals, doing a weeks worth of really nice things to get him in a happy state of mind, wearing sexy clothes and lingerie, but it just doesn't work. They have no idea what turns him on. Some husbands dont respond to pressure, hates talking about it and its causing stress on their marriages. This drives the woman unhappy with their marriage and just frustrated that they do not get any sex. Many have tried going to a sex therapist but things dont seem to work, when the sexual urges of the woman is more than the man.

Doctors have time and again harped on the importance of using a sunscreen to protect one's skin. For many, however, choosing the right sunscreen is a tough choice, what with scores of products with various SPFs (Sun Protection Factors) flooding store shelves. Does higher SPF mean better protection? Not so much, say doctors, who warn against being misled by marketing gimmicks. "SPF is a log measurement of protection against the sun's rays. Although you may be led to believe that a higher SPF sunscreen will give you better protection, the difference in effectiveness between a lower and higher SPF lotion is not much. For example, the difference in the efficacy between an SPF 15 and 30 sunscreen is just 1.2 percent," Nitin S. Walia, consultant, dermatology at Max Super Speciality Hospital, told IANS. What actually does make a difference is the amount of sunscreen lotion or cream that you dab on, he added. Surabhi Patel, dermatologist, agrees: "One should apply generous amounts of sunscreen on all exposed parts of the body, at least 15 minutes before stepping out in the sun, for its effectiveness to kick in." "Also, considering the Indian climate, one tends to perspire a lot in the heat. So re-application of sunscreen lotion or cream every two hours is important," Patel said. The same rules apply when you are going for a dip in the poo- apply generous amounts of sunscreen and re-apply every two hours. "Consumers should be aware that no sunscreen is waterproof, because ultimately all such creams get washed off. They can be water resistant, but those that are labelled so should also state whether they remain effective for 40 minutes or 80 minutes when swimming or if you perspire. Also there should be directions on when to re-apply," Patel said. Talking about the benefits of sunscreen products, dermatologist Bindu Sthalekar said, "Many people think that sunscreen is only to guard against tanning. However, over- exposure to sun and sun damage can lead to premature ageing, dullness, pigmentation, and fine lines. Applying an SPF 15 suncreen means you can stay out in the sun for 50 minutes or roughly two hours without any skin damage".

While doctors advise sunscreen in all seasons, the efficacy of physical protection is given great importance by all. "Large amounts of sunscreen would ideally be needed to protect oneself the whole day, and carrying around so much sunscreen may not be feasible," Walia said. "This is why physical protection, like a scarf or dupatta, long sleeved clothes, an umbrella, a pair of shades, is important because they screen you from the sun's direct rays". Protection of your hair with a head gear or hat is also important. And doctors advise limited time outdoors between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. when the sun's rays are the strongest. So guard yourself and bask in the sun, literally
