WHAT IS AN E-BOMB? E-BOMB submerges electrical circuitry with intense electromagnetic field
ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE THEORY: EMPs with ever diminishing intensity, have changing magnetic fields which couple with electrical
circuitry to produce damage currents/voltage surges
FLUX COMPRESSION GENERATOR(FCG)HIGH POWER MICROWAVE SOURCES- THE VIRACTOR
FLUX COMPRESSION GENERATOR(FCG) is the most important and the fundamental method used for such arsenal.

Power source - Explosively pumped Flux Compression Generator (FCG).
FCG invented by Los Alamos Labs during the 1950s.
FCG can produce tens of Mega Joules in tens to hundreds of microseconds.
Peak current of an FCG is 1000 X that of a typical lightning stroke.
Consists : Metal cylinder (called the armature), surrounded by a coil of wire (the stator winding). The armature cylinder is filled with high explosive, and a sturdy jacket surrounds the entire device.
•The stator winding and the armature cylinder are separated by empty space or insulator. The bomb also has a power source, such as a bank of capacitors, which is connected to the stator.
Events series when the bomb goes off:
Capacitors connects to Stator sets electrical current through wires Generates Intense Magnetic Field. Fuse mechanism ignites the explosive material Explosion travels as wave
through the middle of the armature cylinder.
Explosion passes through cylinder Cylinder comes in contact with stator winding creates a short circuit cuts the stator off from its power supply.
Moving short circuit compresses Magnetic Field generates Intense Electromagnetic burst.
Virtual Cathode Oscillator (VIRCATOR)Virtual Cathode Oscillator (VIRCATOR)
Depends on two factors: 1.Target material ability to resist material 2.Coupling efficiencyCan be Maximize by using
powerful FCG.
Front Door Coupling through antennas.Destroys RF semiconductor devices in transmitters
and receiversBack Door Coupling through power/data cabling,
telephone wiringDestroys exposed semiconductor devices
Geographically fixed (buildings, radar and comm. sites ) identified by conventional methods like satellite, radar etc.
Radiating mobile / hidden targets (ships, mobile air defence equipment) detected using ESM (electronic support measure).
Non radiating mobile / hidden targets - use Unintentional Emissions (UE).
Missile installations must supply 100% of weapon priming energy from own supply.
Bomb installations - weapon can be pre charged before release from aircraft.

MEANS OF DELIVERY
CONCLUSIONOffers a very high payoff in attacking the fundamental information processing and communication facilities
E-bombs can cause hard electrical kills over larger areas than conventional explosives
Measures should be taken to safeguard against future attacks .
