The classes were conducted in Dzongs. In 1959 Lhuentse Pry School was established by Lhuenste Dzongpon.It was then around 1962, Zangkhar Primary School was opened as the second school in Lhuentse. Today, Lhuentse has 27 schools providing education to about 3948 students. Besides, there are at the moment 50 Non Formal Education (NFE) Centres. More centers are expected to be opened during the current year. There are at present about 525 learners in total. Sector Vision Statement: To be the best Dzongkhag in the country in terms of education service delivery through the employment of the five pillars of quality Education such as quality teachers, quality curriculum, quality teaching, quality instructional time and quality infrastructure in a child friendly school atmosphere. Sector Mission Statement: • Employment of Data-based record keeping for easier reference/ tabulation and time saving. • Closely monitor the daily activities of the schools and supporting them wherever necessary. • Timely conduction of Dzongkhag level activities and objectively. • Deploying fair judgment for training/up gradation/studies i.e. right training to right and deserving person. • Expansion of both formal and non-formal education program to achieve the 100 percent literacy level.

A standard Principal Qtr was constructed in 2008-2009 financial year & the school has initiated the construction of dining hall/kitchen in the school with labour contribution from the community. They have also initiated the construction of water supply with support from RSPN Yumche ECR established with onset of 2010 academic session

Challenges
• Drop outs, especially at Secondary level. • School not being accessible to good communication facilities such as road and landline. • Few Parents reluctant to admit their children in Schools for helping hand at homes. • Lack of good play grounds in most of the Primary/Community schools due to rugged terrain. • Frequent transfer of teachers. • Education for the physically disadvantaged. • Provision of quality Wholesome Education. • Enhancement of Professionalism through conducting many Professional development programs, owing to budget constraints. •
Measures
• Find solutions through need based analysis and open dialogues with the stakeholders concerned. • Identification of vulnerable and intellectually challenged students. • Schools to carry out analysis of their performances and deduce tangible programs for improvement of the school teaching- learning
systems. • Conduct Parenting Education program. • Institutionalize School Management Boards for greater community participation and ownership. • Institute Dzongkhag Education Awards to recognize schools performing in diverse educational domains. • Parent – Teacher meetings. • Establish strong working rapport with other Sectors for better coordination and strategic assistance. • Strengthen Dzongkhag Education Conferences for enhancement of school professional ethics. • Conduct timely co-ordination meetings to solve administrative hiccups. • Liaise with other Governmental and Non-governmental organizations for support. • Develop a functional School Policy incorporating School Disaster Management Plans also. • Focused implementation of Educating for GNH concepts.
