Introduction Residents of Dubai experience a unique and constantly changing skyline because of  Dynamic Architecture‘s wind powered rotating skyscraper.

Dr. David Fisher’s innovation , the first building in motion that will change its shape and add a fourth dimension to architecture that is time.

Concept : “ Designed by life , shaped by time .”

The main idea behind their concept involves a central concrete core surrounded by 59 independently rotating levels. The skyscraper would generate its own electricity from the massive horizontal wind turbines that would be stacked in between each floor.

Page 3: Dynamic tower ,Dubai

Residents, if they own the entire floor, are able to control the speed and direction of the rotation by voice command. They can have different views, all from the same place inside their unit. The other floors willbe commanded by the architect or whoever will have the password to the computer program that will give the building a different shape at every glance.

Plan - 8 apartments per floor

It is the first skyscraper to be entirely assembled ina factory from prefabricated parts. The factory madeconstruction process offers many of the advantages ofany modern industrial product : conserving energy, reducing construction time and dramatically cuttingcosts.

Each module of each unit is completely equipped withall necessary plumbing , electric systems plus allfinishes from floor to ceiling ,customized according toowner’s specifications including bathrooms , kitchens, lighting etc.

Page 5: Dynamic tower ,Dubai

The prefabricated modules are then simply hookedtogether mechanically and hoisted up the concrete core, completed from the top down.

The dynamic tower represents the future of constructiontechnology, resulting in a new era of living that willbenefit both man and nature.

Water and Sanitation

For water and sanitation David Fisher developed a special system.

Page 6: Dynamic tower ,Dubai

The main pipes for inlet and outlet are located in the core which is stationary. For water supply each apartment has a separate water tank for water storage. When this tank gets empty, it is refilled by the main water supply line.

For this he has used a system based on technology used for refueling of aircraft mid air. There are smart sensors installed all over the building to indicate when the tanks are empty and need to be refilled.

For providing sanitation in toilets, use of vacuum system present in flights. For taking out sewage to themain sewage pipes in the core, there are sensors which manage which manage the flow of sewage at appropriate time since the floor is continuosly rotating ( speed is between 60 minutes and 24 hours for one revolution ).

This techniques which had been modified and patented byDavid Fisher had to be used because of the concept of rotational tower.

Also , the dynamic tower is the first 100% self poweredgreen building with the ability to generate electricityfor itself through the use of horizontal wind turbinesand solar panels.

Revolutionary Construction

Page 8: Dynamic tower ,Dubai

The first phase of construction will take about sixmonths. A central concrete core is erected to houseimportant static amenities like elevators, staircases, plumbing and other utilities. This is the only part ofthe project which must be built on site. The 12individual units that make up each floor areprefabricated in a factory in order to ensure safety, cost effectiveness and quality control. Each unit isself-contained and includes all necessary electrical, plumbing and air-conditioning.

The largely hollow core will function as the axle around which the floors turn. It will also be the conduit for elevators, electrical wiring and plumbing. To enable water to flow through a constantly shifting structure, Mr. Fisher says he has patented a system, based on technology used to refuel airplanes in mid-flight, that will serve each floor through a single "smart connection" for clean water and another for waste.

And inside the individual apartments to provide bathroom services that includes extending pipes from the building’s toilets (which are rotating too along the floor)to the sewage system Fisher says they have overcome the problem, using some of the technology thathas been developed for the ‘toilet issue’ on long-haul flights.

Refueling Process of Aircrafts An important factor in the efficient turnaround of an aircraft is refueling. Refueling, as the word indicates, means to refuel an aircraft. Often, this aspect is underestimated, but is the most significant factor of the aircraft fuel system

Page 9: Dynamic tower ,Dubai

each fuel truck needs to travel between the fuel depot and the planes dozens of times a day, and only by optimizing delivery and reacting to constantly changingdemands can the job be done efficiently. There are mainly two types of refueling involved in aircraft fuelsystem: Ground refueling system: It is the system whichsupplies fuel to the aircraft at high enough flows and pressures to allow refueling of the aircraft in a shortperiod of time. It is performed prior to almost every flight. The fundamental need for a pressure refueling of an aircraft is to provide a safe, quick aircraft turn-around-time. It increases profitability and provides superior customer service. For both commercialand military aircrafts the ground refueling system are the same, except small unmanned aircraft. Aerial refueling: It has become vital part for modern day air warfare. It is usually required in situations where theaircrafts have to strike the places which are quite farStudy of Aircraft Fueling System: An Application of Refueling Operation 165 from the refueling bases. Thereare two different aerial refueling systems in operationtoday Probe drogue system which involves the deploymentof tension controlled fuel hose with attached drogue coupling from tanker aircraft and receiver aircraft receives it by maintaining the proper altitude. There is a simple fuel pressure assisted spring loaded mechanical latching mechanism in the drogue that holds the probe in place during refueling. On completion of refueling process receiver aircraft simply drops back to detach the probe. The second type of refueling system is the Flying boom system in which the receiver aircraft has female coupling (receptacle) and tanker aircraft flies the boom with its interfacing nozzle into receiver receptacle. The receiver receptacle

latches onto the boom nozzle using hydraulic pressure supplied by the receiver aircraft.

The typical home toilet uses a bowl filled with water. When you flush the toilet, it starts a siphon that drains the bowl. Gravity then carries the water into the septic tank or thesewer system.

Airplane toilets use an active vacuum instead of a passive siphon, and they are therefore called vacuum toilets. When you flush, it opens a valve in the sewer line, and the vacuum in the line sucks the contents outof the bowl and into a tank. Because the vacuum does all the work, it takes very little water (or the blue sanitizing liquid used in airplanes) to clean the bowl for the next person. Most vacuum systems flush with just half a gallon (2 liters) of fluid or less,

Page 11: Dynamic tower ,Dubai

compared to 1.6 gallons (6 liters) for a water-saving toilet and up to 5 gallons (19 liters) for an older toilet.

It turns out that vacuum toilets have lots of advantages, even for normal installations:

1. They use very little water.2. They can use much smaller diameter sewer pipes.3. They can flush in any direction, including upward.

Since a vacuum system does not use gravity to move the water, there is nothing to stop the sewer pipe from going straight up.

Page 12: Dynamic tower ,Dubai

4. That the pipe does not have to go downward also means you can avoid cutting into the floor to put in new toilets.

5. They can be put anywhere in the building.

ComparisonSystem for water supply used in normal highrise building-Pumping from ground level or basement gravity tank to gravity roof tankPumping from gravity storage tank or public water main into hydraulic pneumatic pressure tank that uses captive air pressure

Generally lower two three storeys can be supplied directly from the pressure in public water main Upper storeys, usually in groups of five to eight storeys, can be supplied from a pressure boosted main risers through a pressure reduction valve for each group.

The same system is adopted in dynamic tower the only difference being that since the floors are rotating so to each floor the water supply is directed with the help of sensors. And also for this there is separate system for each floor.

Drainage systemIn drainage system for a high rise building, the drainsfrom the plumbing fixtures are connected to vertical drain stacks that convey the waste and sewage to below

Page 13: Dynamic tower ,Dubai

the lowest floor of the building also the drainage stacks require relief vent connections at specified intervals from the top, and connected to a vent stack that terminates above the roof. From separate toilets on different floors the sewage goes through sewage pipes to the main pipes.Whereas in dynamic tower vaccum system is used. The sewage gets stored and then at proper intervals it is passed into the main soil pipes which are installed like any other drainage system in a high rise building.
