    ETR290 Level 1 problems.

    Stable packet generation and receiving is a key feature required in any modern IP TV

    environment. Any irregularity and/or discontinuity in this packet stream means buffering or

    losing frames. Measuring the interval between packets becomes an integral part of keeping

    up with the quality required.

    Several measurements are used to guard the quality:

    The interval between packets, also called delay, is measured by taking the time

    between two packets.

    The interval between two delays is used to calculate the IP jitter.

    IP jitter provides a means to see the distribution and stability in the IP stream.

  • Bitrate Graph Media Delay This graph displays the delay between two packets, allowing the user to see real-time behavior. Bottlenecks such as packet loss and packet bursts can be seen instantly.

    Displays the current payload speed, which is the bitrate after removing the IP and TCP/UDP headers. Moni-toring the bitrate can show prob-lems in the stream as bitrate dips or spikes show congestion issues in the network.

    IPAT Graph IPAT (Inter packet Arrival Time) or IP jitter is the time between two delay measurements. IP jitter is measurements are collected for 1 second and averaged. A second view is averaged over 10 minutes. Both these views show the data collected as a histogram, allowing for easy visual clues.

    Input con gurationFlexible selection of all streams/inputs, which should be monitored 24/7.On the left all streams on the current interface are shown, which can be added to the list of monitored streams. Custom streams dont have to appear on the interface. Noti cations will be issued when the stream appears or disappears. Deep ltering options are provided (using the PCAP ltering syntax).
