If your personalized plates were stolen, notify your local law
enforcement agency. WisDOT recommends choosing a new plate message
when using form MV2428. If you choose to keep the same personalized
plate message, additional documentation confirming you as rightful
owner of the plates will be sent to you. This documentation can be
presented to law enforcement in any state should you be pulled over
for possession of stolen plates.
