About
Comedy always came natural to
Dufton, him being the “Joker” and the
one to entertain the crowd, never
shying away from the attention from
public speaking or comedic
convos. The second of four born to
“Cas” and “B”, he got his first start in
the comedy arena as a member of
the Television Jamaica comedy
competition series Comedy Bus
(2008); after a friend convinced him
to join the competition. He so on
found his home on the stage and his
stand out bits and ad-libs fortified
him as a staple in the Jamaican
comedic industry being compared
to international acts such as Jamie
Foxx and his ultimate Fave Richard
Pryor.
Background
Dufton attended the Alpha Infant,
Jessie Ripoll Primary, Wolmers
Boys’, Utech, EXEd Community
College and as a young man he
had intentions of becoming a
Lawyer because of his very
talkative nature, this changed
however as he couldn’t imagine
himself in a regular “9-5” Job only
and not also doing what he loved.
He attributes his love for comedy to
his family, “My whole family is quite
entertaining (mom and dad are
hilarious)”. Their love for comedy has
always been a part of him. Growing
up he considers his family a very
hilarious group.
Style and work
His list of fave comedians include
the late Richard Pryor, Steve Harvey,
Cedric the Entertainer, Kevin Hart,
Arnez J and locally Glen
Campbell , Christopher “Johnny”
Daley, Donald “Iceman” Anderson,
Elva. Like most of them his Style of
comedy is very Life Driven. He pulls
from life’s experiences and his
comedic punch lines he creates
through his “third eye”. Telling a story
(a story we can relate to) in ways
that far surpasses the tickle of his
audience’s funny bone. He has
worked with all the local acts
mentioned as well as a few more.
While he hasn’t worked with any
international acts to date, he
admires Sean “P. Diddy” Combs
work ethic and does hope to work
with him in some forum in the future.
Dufton is a regular on Fame Fm’s
Full House Friday set, as well as a
performer on Lady Rennae’s Mek
Wi laugh. Additional Shows
include Mi Nah Laugh, Mek wi
Laugh, Poetry in Motion, Pomedy,
Comedy Café, Comedy Clip,
KLAS Scho ol Tour. He has been a
repeat guest on Television
Jamaica ‘s morning programme
Smile Jamaica (performing and
guest); CVM morning programme
CVM at Sunrise Radio Stations
Ko ol FM, KLAS FM, Celebrity host
on RE-TV’s Retro Wednesday.
For the future of comedy he sets his
sights on revolutionizing the way
comedy is viewed as an art form. “I
want it to get the respect it
deserves and secondly to evolve it
to a point where it is on par with
international acts and standards.”
