The ADTRAN Total Access Dual OCU Dataport is a single-port access module used in the Total Access 1500 platform. It is used to provide the interface between DS0 timeslots of the T-carrier data stream and four-wire metallic interfaces to the customer’s premises. The Dual OCU DP may interoperate over the carrier system with another OCU DP, DS0 DP, DS0 cross-connect system, or switch, and it may be located in an end office, hub office, intermediate office, or remote digital termination system. The Dual OCU DP is equipped with logic level Bantam test access jacks that permit testing in both directions using a logic test set. NEAR is used to test toward the four-wire customer loop direction, and FAR is used to test toward the T-carrier. The Dual OCU DP may be provisioned remotely using ADTRAN Digital System-6. The Digital System-6 communications protocol is "open," making other vendors’ test systems and dataports compatible, such as portable test units (TP 108/109 and TPI 105) or React 2001. The craft interface on the Total Access 1500 SCU is used to change default options and obtain access module status through menu screens. A/B sig- naling is available to determine the state of the A and B signaling bits required for Switched 56 operation from the signals present on the back- plane of the channel bank. Additionally, a Loop Quality Monitor is avail- able to monitor the four wire loop for errors.
