1. Supplication before sleeping a. When retiring to his bed every night, the prophet (peace be upon him) would hold his palms

together, blow in them and recite the last three chapters of the al-Qur'ān and then wipe over

his entire body, beginning with his head and then all parts of the body. He would do this three

times. The prophet also said “when you are about to sleep, recite ayātul kursiyy till the end of

the verse, for it will remain over you as a protection from Allah and no devil will draw near to

you until morning.

b.

O Allah, I submit my soul onto you and I entrust my affair unto you, and I return my face

towards you and I totally rely on you. In hope and fear of you, verily there is neither refuge

nor safe haven from you except with you. I believe in your book (al-Qur'ān) which you have

revealed and in your prophet whom you have sent.

memohon perlindungan kepadaMu jua.

2. Supplication when woke up from sleep

„alā al-solāh” and “hayya „alā al-falāḥ ”, where both of these should be responded with “Lā

I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without partner

and that Muhammad is his servant and messenger.

I am pleased with Allah as Lord,

and Muhammad as messenger and Islam as my religion.

O Allah, owner of this perfect call and owner of this prayer to be performed,

bestow upon Muhammad al-wasīlah and al-fadīlah,

and raise him up to his deserved-praised platform (status) which You have promised him.

Verily, you never fail in Your promise.

4. Supplication on finishing the ablution

I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone without partner,

and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

O Allah, make me of those who always turn to You in repentance and make me of those who

always maintain cleanliness and purity.

Glory is to You, O Allah all praises be to You,

I seek Your forgiveness and turn in repentance to You.

bersih. Maha Suci Engkau wahai Tuhanku. Dan segala pujian adalah kepunyaanMu, aku

memohon ampun dan aku bertaubat kepada Engkau.

or behave foolish by or be treated foolishly.

Umar b. Abi Salama narrated: I was a boy under the care of Allah‟a messenger (peace be upon

to you”

Abdullah b. Amr b. Al-Aas reported: Allah‟s Messenger (peace be upon him) used to say on

the starting to eat: “O Allah, send your blessings in what you have bestowed upon us, and

favour, nor leave it, nor dispense it” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

Abu Umamah meriwayatkan: Setiap kali Rasulullah selesai makan dia sering berdoa:

“Segala puji bagi Allah, bagiNya segenap kebaikan dan pujian! Wahai Tuhan kami, kami

tidak mampu menolak kurniaanMu, tidak pula mampu meninggalkannya juga tidak mampu

Hadith 1

On the authority of the commander of the faithful1, Abu Hafs „Umar ibn al-Khattab

2

(may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the messenger of Allah (the

blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say:

((Actions are but by intention and every

man shall have but that which he intended.

Thus he whose migration3 was for Allah

and His Messenger, his migration was for

Allah and His Messenger,

and he whose migration was to achieve

some worldly benefit or to take some

woman in marriage,

his migration was for that which he

migrated.))

It was related by the two Imāms of the scholars of Hadith, Abū

„Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ismā‟il ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Mughīra ibn

Bardizbah al-Bukhārī and Abū ‟l-Husain Muslim ibn al-Hajjāj ibn

Muslim al-Qushairī an-Naisābūrī, in their two Sahihs, which are the

1 Title given to the caliphs

2 The second caliph in Islam

3 This is a reference to religious migration, in particular to that from Mecca to Medina

On the authority of the Mother of the Faithful5, Umm „Abdullah „Aisha

(may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah

(may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

((He who innovates something

in this matter of ours

that is not of it

will have it rejected.))

It was related by al-Bukhari and Muslim. In one version by Muslim it

reads:

((He who does an act

which our matter is not [in agreement]

with

will have it rejected.))

Hadith 6

10

On the authority of Abū „Abdullah an-Nu‟man, the son of Bashīr, (may

Allah be pleased with them both), who said: I heard the Messenger of

Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) say:

((That which is lawful is plain, and that which is

unlawful is plain,

and between the two of them are doubtful matters

about which not many people know.

Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears

himself in regard to his religion and his honour,

but he who falls into doubtful matters falls into

that which is unlawful,

like the shepherd who pastures around a

sanctuary, all but grazing therein.

Truly every king has a sanctuary, and truly

Allah‟s sanctuary is His prohibitions.

Truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh which,

if it be whole, all the body is whole and which,

if it be diseased, all of it is diseased.

Truly it is the heart))

It was related by al-Bukhārī and Muslim.

Hadith 10

11

On the authority of Abū Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him),

who said: The Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of

Allah be upon him) said:

((Allah the Almighty is good and accepts only that

which is good. Allah has commanded the Faithful

to do that which he commanded the Messengers,

and the Almighty has said:

“O ye Messengers! Eat of the good things, and do

right.”6

And Allah the Almighty said: “O ye who believe!

Eat of the good things wherewith We have

provided you.”7

Then he mentioned [the case of] a man who,

having journeyed far, is disheveled and dusty and

who spreads out his hands to the sky [saying]:

O Lord! O Lord! –

while his food is unlawful, his drink unlawful, his

clothing unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully,

so how can he be answered!)) It was related to Muslim.

Hadith 23 On the authority of Abū Mālik al-Hārith ibn „Āsim al-Ash‟arī (may

Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (may

the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

((Purity is half of faith. Al-hamdu

lillāḥ [Praise be to Allah] fills the

scales,

and Subḥ āna ‟llāḥ [How far is Allah

from every imperfection] fill that

which is between heaven and earth.

Prayer is light; charity is proof;

patience is illumination;

and the al-Qur'ān is an argument for or

against you.

Everyone starts his day

and is a vendor of his soul, either

freeing it or bringing about its ruin.))

It was related by Muslim.
