What’s New with Gerontology?
Our Mission Statement:
• Promoting optimal aging for individuals and communities
Our Preamble:
• VCU’s Department of Gerontology in the school of Allied Health Professions was founded in 1976 and remains the only MS in Gerontology in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Our mission to promote optimal aging for individuals and communities is evident through our innovative graduate and continuing education, scholarship, and university-community partnerships.
• Our graduates further our person-centered, transdisciplinary mission largely in the areas of Administration, Education, Advocacy, and Entrepreneurship.
What’s New with Gerontology?
• We have newly written: Diversity Statement and
Statement of Values.
• All of these items will be included in your updated Policy and Procedure Manual for 2015.
• We will also have a new look to our website on January 13th, so don’t forget to check it out!
And There is MORE?!
• The VCU Department of Gerontology is seeking program accreditation with the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB).
• If accepted, this will accredit our Master’s program for students educated to become Gerontologists as Administrators.
Questions from YOU!
• How can instructors offer additional marketing assistance for the trainings to help avoid training cancelations?
