The purpose of this application note is to explain how to setup the DSC PowerSeries Neo integration with a KT-400 or a KT-1-M (or PCB) using an RS-232 or IP connection.
Minimum Requirements:
EntraPass Special, Corporate, or Global Edition 6.04 or higher.
d. Click the Configuration button and enter the master code in the Master code
textbox
Note: This code will be used for receiving the programming and updating the alarm panel with the new user codes. The default Master code in a DSC intrusion panel is 1234.
e. In the Controller selection for pass-through select the controller is
connected to DSC PowerSeries Neo panel
1. Enter the Integration Identification Number and Integration Access
Code gathered in the Neo Configuration section
f. Click Ok
g. In the Panel Component tab, select the number of zones, partitions and users
i. The Configuration Form will reappear. Select the Default Code and click OK.
Note: The uploading of the intrusion panel may take 2-3 minutes depending on the programming. During this time, the intrusion panel will be in programming mode. Once the intrusion panel uploading is complete, an event called Panel components upload completed will occur in the message list.
Programming user codes:
To program new user codes or to modify existing ones, go to the Devices tab and select Integrated Component
a. Within the Integrated component tab, make sure the View component
hierarchy button is pressed
b. To better manage the components, click the All Components button and
select Users
c. Select the Corporate gateway that the intrusion panel is connected to under
the Gateway drop down list
d. From the Panel drop down list, select the previously created intrusion panel
e. From the Component drop down list, select a user, and name the user
accordingly
f. Click on Configuration
g. Enter the user access code that will be used
h. Save the configuration
Note: there is an icon in the Component type list box. This icon represents the status of the
Note: The EntraPass system can only download information from the intrusion panel while it is disarmed. If the intrusion panel is armed, EntraPass will buffer the modification until the intrusion panel disarms.
Arming and disarming via manual operations:
To request an arming or disarming of partitions, go to the Operation tab and select Integrated panel
a. If shown, on the left pane select the proper intrusion panel
b. In the right pane, select the partition you wish to arm or disarm
2. You may generate reports, video trigger, real time email notifications and alarm
acknowledgments based on intrusion events. You can better search for events by
sorting by access control events or intrusion events in the above mentioned windows.
Single Partition Management (by partition) via a Reader:
To arm a single partition via a reader, go to the Devices tab and click the Door button a. Make the appropriate Gateway, Site and Controller selections, and select the
door used for arming/disarming the partition
b. Go to the Options and alarm system tab and click the External alarm system
options button
c. In the Alarm system options window:
i. For arming:
1) If you are arming via card and pushing button, choose the
appropriate input in the Arming request Input
2) If you are arming via card and keypad button, choose the
appropriate button to be used as an arming request in the
keypad button drop down list
ii. Choose when cardholders will be able to arm the intrusion system by
choosing a schedule in the Enable Arming Request schedule textbox
iii. Choose which card holder will be able to arm the intrusion system by
choosing a single access level, or group of access levels, in the Arming
access level textbox
iv. Go to the Disarming request tab and choose which card holder will be
able to disarm the intrusion system, by choosing a single access level or
group of access levels in Postpone or disarm access level textbox
Virtual Zones Programming (Single Panel): DSC PowerSeries Neo allows the assignment of up to 32 of its total zones as virtual zones. A DSC PowerSeries Neo zone can be “triggered” in Alarm, Trouble, Tamper by Kantech inputs, doors or controller events using Virtual zones. The benefit is that a Kantech Controller Door can cause an event on a DSC PowerSeries Neo zone without any wiring, and transmit the event to the monitoring central station if needed. Note - the following Firmware is required:
o KT-400 Firmware 1.17 or higher
o KT-400 rev1 Firmware 1.23 or higher
o KT-1-M or PCB Firmware 1.03 or higher
Note: HS2016 can only have 16 virtual zones The following steps describe the method to program a single panel as a virtual zone:
1. DSC Virtual zones need to be assigned to a DSC physical zone using the DSC
keypad using option
a. On the keypad: [*8]-[installer Code],[560]
b. Scroll the Virtual Zone desired and press *
c. Choose the physical zone to be linked: ex: 009
d. Press # when done
2. Go to the Devices tab and select the Integrated Panel button
a. Select the previously created DSC PowerSeries Neo panel
b. Click the Panel Component tab
c. Under Virtual zone select the number of virtual zones you have
d. Save the integration module
3. Go to the Devices tab and select the Integrated Component button.
a. Select the appropriate Virtual Zone in the Component dropdown list
b. Click on Configuration
c. Choose the Kantech component type to link in the Component type dropdown list
d. Choose the Kantech component in the Component source
e. Check the proper DSC Component action the Virtual zone will cause on the DSC
PowerSeries Neo
f. Press Ok
g. Save the virtual zone
Virtual Zones Programming (Multiple Panels): The following describes the method to program a multiple panels as virtual zones using the virtual zone mapping window: In order to link components from multiple controllers, the gateway will manage or supervise the events of all controllers, other than the one where the Neo panel is used. The virtual zone mapping window will now be populated with all appropriate devices. When opening the mapping of components to a virtual zone, the list of components is based on the devices of the same gateway and same account where the Neo panel is used. For example, doors: the doors will be listed where Neo is connected, along with and doors of all the other controllers using the same gateway.
The Gateway will monitor the events from the other controllers and send commands to the KT’s DLL to update the virtual zone, accordingly.
Using this connectivity, where the gateway is sending commands to Neo (through a KT-1 or KT-400), it is possible to interact with all types of controllers on that gateway (KT-100, KT-200, KT-300), even if connected through RS-485 bus.
The PowerSeries Neo/Kantech integration provides users with the following abilities:
Receiving programming of the intrusion system: the partition and zone names can be uploaded to the EntraPass software from the intrusion panel. The partitions and zones can be used for various actions, such as operator operations. Additionally, the user codes can be uploaded from the intrusion panel and stored in the EntraPass software. The EntraPass operator can program and download new user codes to the intrusion panel or modify existing ones.
Receiving events from the intrusion panel: the intrusion panel events can be viewed on the message list, and be used for reporting in conjunction with the standard access events. Furthermore, these intrusion events can be used to trigger video recordings, pop-up alarms, email notifications and other actions.
Manual operations from EntraPass: the operator can perform manual operations on partitions from the EntraPass software, operations such as: Partition arm away, partition arm stay, partition arm no entry delay, partition arm with code, and disarm partition with code.
Using intrusion components on graphics: the uploaded zones and partitions can be used in graphic floor plans to visualize where each zone, partitions and traditional access control components, are located on the floor plan. The operator can view the status of each of the components and perform operations on partitions.
Arm and disarm partitions: the intrusion panel partition can be linked to a reader or readers to request an arming and disarming of the partition via a card. When a card holder presents a card and pushes the appropriate button on the reader, the KT-400/KT-1 will send an arming request to the intrusion panel. When a card holder presents a card and opens the doors, the KT controller will send a disarming request to the intrusion panel. The EntraPass software supports single partition management per reader or multiple partition management per reader.
There is no support for Virtual Keypad at this point with this integration.
