Today’s performance is drawn from the brilliant stage productions of “Blast!,” “Stomp Out

Loud,” and even from all the cool drumming in “Riverdance.” I was fortunate to have seen all

these shows in person and watched them many more times on video too. Special thanks is

due here to Prof. Peter Bloedel. I have been in the cast of three different Theatre Physics

productions, and those stage experiences and his expertise helped fuel the creativity for this

drum show.

17 years ago, I started a drumline at Bethany Lutheran College.

We did not have the drums at the time, so I bought a bunch of old

equipment from a local high school, and spent countless hours during

my first semester at BLC in sanding, polishing, and repainting all those drums.

In April of 2004, the first public performance of the B-Town Drumline took

place on our campus green. Little did I know then, that experience would serve

as the catalyst to what continues to be a thrilling music career.

It has been quite a year. Lots of challenges, frustrations, and obstacles to overcome. But,

in looking too much to the past and forward too far in the future; we can easily miss the

present and the richness of this moment or this time together. On the stage tonight are six

seniors--Anna, Heather, Leanna, Sam, Christopher, Mariah-- and this will be one powerful

farewell show to remember. Enjoy!
