It adds functional support of vector control with encoder evaluation to the existing Control Units. Comprehensive safety func- tions are already integrated in the standard unit. The new CU250S-2 Control Unit rounds off the Sinamics G120 product portfolio upward and superse- des the CU240S Control Unit with encoder interface. Single-axis applications with induction motors, basic positioning tasks and applications requiring many I/Os are now supported. Moreover, all variants of the new Control Unit also include by default the safety functions STO („Safe Torque Off“), SBC („Safe Brake Control“), and SS1 („Safe Stop 1“). In this way, applications with basic safety requirements can already effortlessly be implemented with the standard scope of supply. Exten- ded safety functions can be activated via an optional software license. In line with the modular concept of the Sinamics G120 portfolio, the new Control Units can also be freely combined with all relevant Power Modules and support all applications so far addressed by the Sinamics G120, both with and without encoder evaluation. These include pump, fan, and compres- sor applications, as well as mill, mixer, and extruder applications in industries such as automotive, textile, printing, chemicals, and material handling.
