PSG College of Technology has collaborative arrangements with industries, research laboratories and Universities abroad in various areas of joint academic programmes, research and training. PSG College of Technology offers 21 undergraduate programmes and 37 postgraduate programmes. It also offers research programs leading to MS/Ph.D. degrees in all departments. Currently more than 520 research scholars, both full time and part time, are working for their Ph.D. degree.
The Department of Physics was established in the year 1951. The department has been working towards fulfilling its mission through a synergistic combination of teaching and research. Apart from offering courses for the under-graduate, post graduate engineering programmes, the department has also been conducting short term contin-uing education programmes for participants from educa-tional institutions and industries. The mission of the depart-ment is to contribute to the training of a wide spectrum of students of engineering and technology by offering relevant curricular inputs related to applied physics. Research & development and consultancy activities are being carried out to achieve self- sufficiency in Hi-Tech Materials, devices and instruments. Research work in the area of Thin Film Devices, Nanomaterials, MEMS, Solar Cells, Crystal Growth and Non-Linear Dynamics are in progress.
