THAT WE ONCE KNEW
SHE WAS LIVING ALONE IN A FORREST GREEN, ALL
ALONE AND SELDOM SEEN
SHE WAS BORN ONE DAY IN THE MONTH OF MAYBUT
NO COLOURS DID SHE HAVE
SHE WAS BLACK AND GREY WITH NO RED OR GREEN,
NOT EVEN A COLOUR IN BETWEEN
SHE TRIED IN VAIN TO COLOUR HER WINGS, WITH PAINT
AND BRUSHES AND ALL SORTS OF THINGS!
BUT NO LUCK, JUST DISMAY FOR WHEN IT RAINED, IT
WOULD WASH THEM ALL AWAY.
SHE SAT AND SHE THOUGHT, “OH WHAT SHALL I
DO?”,"IF ONLY I HAD SOME PINK OR SOME BLUE”
SUDDENLY SHE SHOUTED “I KNOW, I KNOW!, I’LL ASK
THAT BRIGHTLY COLOURED RAINBOW!”
SO SHE SAT AND SHE WAITED UNTIL VERY SOON, THE
RAIN BROUGHT THE RAINBOW INTO FULL BLOOM
“OH, PLEASE, PLEASE MR RAINBOW” SAID SHE “TO HAVE
SOME COLOURS IS MY PLEA!”
BUT THE RAINBOW FROWNED AND HE REPLIED “THE
COLOURS ON ME ARE FIXED AND DRIED. YOU SEE I NEED
THEM FOR WHEN MISS RAIN COMES ALONG, MY
COLOURS SHINE BRIGHTLY AND SING OUT THEIR SONG”
(End of Part 1 of Tale of a Butterfly....Stay tuned to find
out next time what will happen to our Butterfly....Will

MONOLOGUES
ALICE IN WONDERLAND
(REMEMBER WHEN YOU SEE BRACKETS YOU DO NOT SAY
WHAT IS INSIDE THE BRACKETS ...THESE ARE JUST
INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOU)
Alice enters with a book
“Hello. Do you see what I have? A book! And its not just
any book. It’s a picture book! I’ve got a picture book filled
with wonderful, marvellous, beautiful pictures. I love
picture books, don’t you? I’m going to sit right down
here and look at all the brand new pictures in my brand
new picture book
(She sits down, opens the book but there are no pictures)
What’s this? There are no pictures! How could there be
no pictures in my brand new picture book? This is
terrible!
(She calms herself down)
That’s alright. We’ll use our imagination. We’ll just
imagine all the pictures. Like here, for instance, we can
imagine a picture of a little stream, and a tree, and a little
bunny comes hopping out from behind a tree.
(White Rabbit runs by)
Did you hear something? It must have been the wind.
Now, back to our picture. A little bunny hops along and
stops to smell the flowers.
(White Rabbit enters, looks at his watch, gasps, and
leaves)
Did you make that noise? I didn’t make that noise. What
could have made that noise? A bunny? Oh I love little
bunnies! Maybe I can find it. Here bunny, bunny, bunny,
Here bunny, bunny, bunny.
(White Rabbit enters. ALICE sees how big he is, she gasps,
he gasps and runs off)
Did you see that? That was a big bunny! That was the
biggest bunny I’ve ever seen. Not it’s couldn’t have been.
It was just my imagination, once again, running away
with me. I’ll just go back to reading my book.
(White Rabbit says from offstage “I’m Late”)
Did you say, that? I didn’t say that. Who could have said
that.
(White Rabbit says from offstage “I’m horribly late”)
The rabbit? But rabbits can’t talk! That must be one
extraordinary rabbit. How curious! I’ve got to follow that
talking rabbit.
(Alice goes off)
SCARECROW (From the Wizard of Oz)
Pardon me, That way is a very nice way. It’s pleasant
down that way too. Am I confusing you on purpose? Of
course not. You see, I can’t make up my mind, because I
haven’t got a brain, only straw. How can I talk if I haven’t
got a brain? Well some people without brains do an
awful lot of talking don’t they?
WOODY (From Toy Story)
Buzz, of course Andy would want to play with you! Look
at you. You’re a Buzz Lightyear. Any other toy would give
up his moving parts just to be you. You’ve got wings, you
glow in the dark, you talk, your helmet does that...that
whoosh thing..you are a COOL toy. As a matter of fact
you’re too cool. I mean..I mean what chance does a toy
like me have against a Buzz Lightyear action figure? All I
can do is
(He pulls his own pull string)
There’s a snake in my boots!....Why would Andy ever
want to play with me when he’s got you. Buzz you are
brilliant!!!!!!
DOROTHY (From the Wizard of Oz)
But it wasn’t a dream. It was a place. And you and you
and you...and you were there. But you couldn’t have
been could you? No Aunt Em, this was a real truly live
place and I remember some of it wasn’t very nice but
most of it was beautiful, but just the same all I kept
saying to everybody was “I want to go home” and they
sent me home! Doesn’t anybody believe me? But
anyway, Toto, we’re home and this is my room and
you’re all here and I’m not going to leave here ever, ever
again. Because I love you all. And....Oh Auntie Em!.
There’s no place like home!.

BECOME
In this activity you become different objects. This
exercise encourages creative thinking. Try to get people
in your house to join in. YOU can be the caller. Try and
get some music on and when you pause the music you
call out the object you want them to be. Good fun!
