NOVEMBER 14, 2019 DRAMA CLUB PRESENTS
STILL LIFE WITH IRIS
“Still Life with Iris" is a fantastical adventure which centers on a little girl's
search for the simplest of things: home. Iris lives with her mom in the land of
Nocturno—a magical place in which the workers make, by night, all of the
things we see in the world by day. When she is taken from her home and
made to live with her "new parents" the Great Goods, Iris joins forces with new
friends Annabel Lee and Mozart (the 11-year-old composer) to find her way
back. Tickets are FREE for ECASD students and staff, and just $7 for the
general public, and will be available at the door. We hope you'll consider
coming out to support the amazing show that these students have put together!
Performances will be held:
Friday, November 15, 7:00 PM
Saturday, November 16, 7:00 PM
Sunday, November 17, 1:30 PM

NORTH HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC TEAM
The Eau Claire Academic Decathlon Team competed in their local
competition on Nov. 12th. The theme for competition this year
was In Sickness and in Health: An Exploration of Illness and
Wellness. Students answered a total of 335 questions on seven
multiple-choice exams in each of the following subject areas: art,
economics, literature, mathematics, music, science, and social
science. While the team is not moving on to Regionals, we are
proud of the time and commitment they spent preparing for local
competition. #huskypride

North High School AP Psych students (above), along with
teacher, Jeffrey Schmidt, served up a kiddie smorgasbord
delight (sloppy joes, spaghetti with marinara, and
homemade mac and cheese) at the Beacon House last week. “ … WE CAN LEND A HAND INSTEAD OF
POINTING A FINGER.”
NORTH STUDENTS VOLUNTEER AT
THE PROMISE OF THE CHIPPEWA
VALLEY – BEACON HOUSE
North High School takes one week each semester to share meals
with families at the Family Promise shelter. North has been doing
this for about 16 years and remains the only organization that is
not a church to participate in this way.
North Math Teacher, Marjorie Craemer, started this when she was
the Key Club advisor. They needed more evenings so North
covered several nights until the idea came up that North could
take one week each semester on a regular basis.
Ms. Craemer says, “People always say that it is so good that we
are teaching kids to give back, but it’s so much more than that. It’s
about sharing time with others as part of a community. It’s about
realizing that even though the choices we make are important, not
everyone has been given the same choices to make. So, we can
lend a hand instead of pointing a finger. And, in this world of
social media, it’s about being in a room with others and making
human connections. In being part of a safety net for others, we
can more clearly see and appreciate the people in our lives who
catch us when we fall and need that safety net.”

FOOD PANTRY GETTING READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS
First, let’s thank Jim and
Linda Jarzynski for
bringing in an entire bag
of mashed potatoes and
pasta sides for the Food
Pantry. With the holiday
break coming up, it’s
critical to have these
types of easy food items
to send home with
students for the week
they are not in school.
Along this same line, I’m excited to announce that the North Food
Pantry is moving to the Husky WearHouse.
We hope this will be a great opportunity for students to help their
fellow classmates. Husky WearHouse volunteers and Student
Council reps, along with 2 to 3 parent volunteers, will be helping
students in both the Food Pantry and WearHouse. #COMMUNITY #HUSKYPRIDE
DECA DONATES

PANTRY -- WOW!
A HUGE thanks to
North’s DECA for

of their food drive
proceeds to the Food
Pantry. Thank you to the
neighborhood families who donated. Your support is greatly
appreciated!

Thank you to everyone who reached out expressing interest in
brining food and/or working in the Food Pantry and Husky
WearHouse during school hours!
It truly makes the world of difference to the success of these
programs, and to the success of our students. Again, your
generosity continues to amaze me!

parents and students that the deadline for submission for
senior pictures to be included in the yearbook is Friday,

service to you. Please request they send the (minimum)
wallet-sized file as a jpeg with a minimum of 300 dpi
