Mineral R&D is necessary to develop:

• Innovative products and materials for existing

and new markets

• Technologies for sustainable, increased

self-sufficiency in mineral resources

• New strategies and technologies for mineral

resources transformation

• Technologies for the reduction of the

mineral industry environmental footprints

In view of this, a Mineral Symposium 2017

(SIMPOMIN 2017) is being organized as a platform

for participants to present their research findings,

exchange view, knowledge and experiences on

technologies, innovations and commercialization

related to the mineral industries. This symposium

will be the eight of such successful forum organized

by the Mineral Research Centre (PPM), Department

of Mineral & Geoscience (JMG) which the first

SIMPOMIN being on 2002, followed by 2004, 2007,

2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. In this event, a number

of papers will be presented by researchers from

PPM pertaining to their research findings on mineral

R&D besides of another presenter from various

institutions and private sectors.

OBJECTIVESThe aim of this SIMPOMIN 2017 are:

• To provide a platform for researchers,

academicians, technocrats and industrial players

to discuss challenges and opportunities in

enhancing the value of Malaysian minerals

through R&D&C&I

• To discuss research findings and ideas, and to

disseminate the latest developments related to

minerals R&D&C&I

• To promote interdisciplinary networking among

interested parties and professionals to mineral

technologies
