What’s a Pronoun? A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. Subject pronouns are I, you, he, she, it, we, they. They are usually found at the beginning of a sentence. Object pronouns are me, you, him, her, it, us, them. They are usually found at the end of a sentence. Possessive pronouns are my, your, his, her, its, our, their. They tell to whom something belongs. Let’s look at these examples: 1. I don’t like waffles, but I like pancakes. “I” is a subject pronoun. 2. “Mickey doesn’t want to play with you,” said Judy. “You” is an object it tells who Mickey doesn’t want to play with. 3. This is her pencil case. “Her” tells whose pencil case it is. It is a possessive pronoun. Let’s practice. Circle the pronoun in the sentences. : 1. Sarah doesn’t know your name. 2.
