Vision and Mission Statement“The vision is to see our Dragon Pride spill over from our campus into the homes and businesses of Moorhead. Dragon Pride seeks to transform our campus by reestablishing old traditions, inventing new traditions and creating an interactive, fun and celebratory environment that is inviting to all students, staff, faculty, and alumni and Moorhead community”; and, “DragonFrost seeks to build community and DragonPride at MSUM through events and activities.”

What is it?What is DragonFrost?Dragon Frost is a week of activities in February for the MSUM community to have some fun and chase away the winter blahs. It is an event that is organized by the Homecoming/DragonFrost committee.

Financial Goals$3,000- through student fees & Student Activities Budget Committee Dragon Frost is Co-sponsored with Intramurals, in order to generate more money. Goal Get rid of the winter Blues!

GoodwillThere are fundraising efforts through a penny drive and fun run that raises money for the Go Pink scholarships. These scholarships benefit students and student athletes whose lives have been impacted by cancer.

Communication ProcessPick a date.Communicate (meetings, call, email, txt,

whatever) amongst stakeholders and sponsors of the events.

*Monday meetings.No checklist! Activities are simple.*Meetings would take place every Monday at 3:30, with the Dragon’s After Dark committee.

Communication Process con. The communication process occurs at multiple levels in the planning process. There’s a student staff team that works with various offices and departments on campus to co-sponsor events. These staff also work with a volunteer committees to promote and plan events. The communication is conducted via social media, email, phone calls, and/or face to face meetings.

Financial TrackingAgain, $3,000 budget. Partnered with intramurals

Marketing

The marketing is of social media (facebook & twitter), posters, floor graphics, digital signs. All are designed by a student graphic designer, who is part of the planning group.

Food and Beverage A soup feed, ice cream, sugar cookies, and pizza are all offered.

Logistics, Technology and Crisis PlanThere are contracts for the Mentalist, Ski trip and all speakers at the Leadership conference. MnSCU requires that MSUM has a contract, for any performer that contains $2 million in liability insurance, in order to be on campus.

Event Logistics There are multiple events throughout the week. There are layouts and décor change. The general feel for the week is reflected in the name “DragonFrost.” Sodexo is used as the vendor for ice cream, cookies and the soup feed. Athletics is used on the Go Pink game and scholarship efforts. Papa John’s is used for the pizza party and MSUM receives a discounted rate as they are a sponsor of the Athletic Dept.
