DOI Mission

IOC Mission

Coordinate and notify DOI personnel and provide assistance to the Incident Support Team (IST) during emergency incidents and in continuity of operations (COOP) situations

Day-to-Day Operations

• Serves as the Department’s nerve center and single point of contact for information sharing and dissemination of law enforcement, security, emergency management, and intelligence information

• Monitors White House and homeland security operation networks for changes in department and agency COOP alert and deployment options

• Conducts communications tests at all alternate operating facility(ies) with applicable interagency partners daily

• Provides DOI employees weather information, local/national emergency information

Periods of Heightened Alert

• Provides situational awareness and decision support for the Secretary, senior staff, and IST during emergency incidents and in COOP situations

• Tracks the locations of DOI senior leadership and their successors on a daily basis

• Conducts communications tests at all DOI alternate operating facility(ies) and with applicable interagency partners daily

• Coordinates and notifies DOI personnel during emergencies
