Symposium OverviewDay 1 – The Mandible

• Detailed Surgical Anatomy of the Posterior Mandible • Biology of Bone Grafting• Comprehensive Surgical Management of Anterior and Posterior Mandibular Horizontal and Vertical Defects• Extraction Site Management – Grafting Protocols vs. Immediate Placement• Soft Tissue Management of Anterior and Posterior Mandibular Horizontal and Vertical Defects• Complications of Mandibular Alveolar Ridge Augmentation Surgery

Day 2 – The Maxilla• Surgical Anatomy of the Anterior and Posterior Maxilla• Comprehensive Surgical Management of Anterior and Posterior Horizontal and

Vertical Defects• Extraction Site Management – Grafting Protocols vs. Immediate Placement• Sinus Grafting – Lateral and Crestal Approach, Osseodensification, Grafting in the Presence of Pathology• Soft Tissue Management of Anterior and Posterior Maxillary Horizontal and Vertical Alveolar Ridge Defects• Complications of Maxillary Alveolar Ridge Augmentation Surgery

You are cordially invited to join two of the world’s most experienced clinicians with bone grafting for two full days on the topic of comprehensive maxillary and mandibular alveolar ridge augmentation. Each presenter will have four hours per day to share his material on different protocols to address the various horizontal and vertical alveolar ridge defects that exist. Although both clinicians share much in comon with regard to their respective approaches to these bone grafting challenges, they nevertheless have enough uniqueness with regard to their respective technique of flap management, site development, membrane type and bone grafting materials to allow for a most unique educational experience.

You don’t want to miss this first time ever opportunity to see two master clinicians as they share their respective long term experience with alveolar ridge augmentation.

Workshops

Dr. Michael A. PikosVertical and Horizontal Ridge Augmentation with Titanium Mesh/rhBMP-2 Particulated Bone GraftThis hands-on workshop will focus on the key principles involved for horizontal and vertical alveolar ridge augmentation. It will include the use of titanium mesh particulate grafting protocols and will feature incision design, flap management, site preparation, graft materials, growth factors, barrier membranes and soft tissue closure (suturing techniques).

Learning objectives:

1. Understand clinical based anatomy for maxillary and mandibular alveolar ridge augmentation.

2. Learn the key surgical principles for predictable alveolar ridge augmentation.

3. Understand and learn the keys to minimize complications from alveolar ridge augmentation procedures.

Dr. Istvan UrbanVertical Ridge Augmentation with Titanium Reinforced Membrane and Particulated Bone GraftThis hands-on section will provide an in-depth knowledge of the details of vertical ridge augmentation surgery. Flap design, graft and membrane placement, effective flap mobilization and double-layer suture will be demonstrated.

Learning objectives:

1. Understand the surgical anatomy of the floor of the mouth

2. Learn the surgical principles of ridge augmentation surgery

3. Learn the tension free closure of the flaps after vertical ridge augmentation
