“Learning for life...”

• Think of your best teacher.

• What were they like?

• What did they do?

• How did they teach?

The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.William Arthur Ward

Education is like a voyage or a journey ofdiscovery, but in order to fully achieve you

have to be able to understand your learning ….

Page 16: Dr Liz Pyne Head of Humanities Faculty “Learning for life...”

What does‘learning’ look like?

If learning could be an object what would it be?

Page 17: Dr Liz Pyne Head of Humanities Faculty “Learning for life...”

• A metaphor for learning …..

• Reflect on when your ‘learning’ happens ….

• Is it the light bulb moment?

Page 18: Dr Liz Pyne Head of Humanities Faculty “Learning for life...”

Learning occurs whenthe penny drops,

the light comes onand the learner says,

‘ah, I get it!’

•Over to you ….

•Try to think of an image/object which shows how you see your learning

•Perhaps the object would indicate what type of teacher you would want to be
