PROJECT HISTORY

• 2004: Stevens CountyVoluntary, producer-led, coordinated disease control program was initiated.

• 2009: Project was expanded to include the six surrounding counties.

• 2010: Project was expanded again to include the entire region north of Hwy 212 and all of Renville County.

CHALLENGES OF LARGE VOLUNTARY DISEASE ELIMINATION PROJECT

• Reluctance to participate

• Communication of site status changes to coordinator

• Lack of regular surveillance testing

• Adequate communication to all participants

FUTURE PLANS• Intensify efforts to recruit participants

• Recruit “Local Champions”

• Coordinate efforts with MN VDL to compile N212 area dendogram

• Coordinate efforts with MN VDL to receive regular PRRS reporting from participants

• Continue cooperative relationship with MN Pork Producers to educate and promote project
