Pune - From Cultural Capital to IT Hub, also known as Oxford

Pune having more than a hundred educational institutes, nine
Universities, with students from all over the world studying at the
colleges of the Nine Universities, have acquired a reputation of

courses at UG & PG level. It was established in the year 1995 and it is a distinguished degree college affiliated to the
Savitribai Phule Pune University. Sheltered in huge well architectured premises along with multiple institutes. The college
has a unique academic atmosphere chiefly characterized by interdisciplinary scholarly interaction and healthy competitive
spirit and enthusiasm to excel in various curricular activities.
The college has been Re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade. The college has received PerM.A.nent Affiliation of

The college is located in the heart of Pimpri - Chinchwad, the twin city of Pune. The college building is a masterpiece
of architecture and has state of the art facilities that are in tune with one of the best colleges.
The college building basks in the fine aesthetics and is impressive. It has a mural of Goddess of Knowledge on its
facade and the magnificent entrance welcoming each and everyone. In the entrance lobby, a beautiful idol of
Sant Shri Gajanan Maharaj adds spirituality to the campus. The campus has electronic vigilance system for the safety
purpose.
The college is having green and clean campus and has eco-friendly rain harvesting system. Hostel accommodation
is provided to the students as per the availability. Medical facilities are available at Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College and Hospital
in the vicinity of the campus.
As the college focuses on student centric environment, it takes into consideration different infra structural need of
the students. The college caters to the needs of physically challenged students with the facilities like ramp, wheel chair, etc.
Considering different requirements of the students the college provides facilities like canteen, co-operatie store, purified

seminar halls, audio-visual Smart rooms, well equiped laboratories, administrative block, conference hall etc.
The college has an open air theater and well equipped seminar halls to cater to the extra curricular needs of thestudents. The college has 19 Smart classrooms with Smart boards and LCD facility to make the teaching process learnercentric.
The college has a comprehensive strength of 23 departments that makes a complete learning scenario. The collegeprovides well equipped science, commerce and computer laboratories with internet facility. The Language lab helps to dealwith the communication skills of the students.
The college has well equipped digital library with all
necessary text - books, reference books, encyclopedic
collection, periodicals and journals along with spacious
reading hall available separately for the staff and the
student since morning to evening.
The library has a vast collection of books. The fully
computerized library helps the students to search
databases and refer e-resources. Not only are the books
available in physical form but in virtuality also in the form of
e-books. Being equipped with the technological
advancements, the library facilitates the students in
searching the databases, e-resources through free package
like INFLIBNET, DELNET and NDL. To help students search
their Information about books by keyword, Author, Title,
etc. a system like 0PAC is provided to them. In order to give
more opportunities to enhance the knowledge of the
students, the central library of the college has been
collaborated with other renowned libraries like The British
Library, Gokhale Institute Political Science Library, Pune
University Jaykar Library, NCL Library etc. Through the ERP
system the libraries of all the sister institutes are linked
together viz; Medical, Dental, Engineering, Pharmacy,

Parental Care
Students admitted to the first year of UG degree are from 10+2
stream from different districts of Maharashtra and also from different states
of India and there is a structural difference between the school and college
education. Therefore for the smooth integration of students in the new
environment, counseling sessions are arranged for the students time to
time. Senior members of the faculty look after this activity as mentors.
Parent and Teachers interact with each other time to time to ensure
the well being of their wards. Every attempt is made to see that students feel
comfortable, confident, fully secure and the changeover is smooth.
The Cutting Edge
The college has a team of dedicated and highly qualified faculty with
a vast teaching experience both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The faculty is involved in relevant research and training programmes. Senior
members of the teaching staff are also involved in the Pune University
examination duties like paper setting, checking & moderation.
The college deputes its faculty to attend workshops, seminars,
conferences, symposia etc. frequently and also supports to conduct State,
National and International level seminars in the college on the advanced
topics.
The quality of teaching is evident from the excellent results of the
students. Various activities focused on student welfare, help the students in

'Zero Tolerance' towards Ragging
Ragging within or outside the institution is strictly prohibited. If any
student found guilty of an act considered to be ragging, a disciplinary action
is taken in accordance with UGC regulation on curbing menace of ragging in
higher educational institutions, 2009 and as per regulation of Maharashtra
Prohibition act, 1999.
College has constituted an anti-ragging committee and anti-ragging
squad to prevent ragging.

� The student should be regular in attendance. 75% of
attendance is compulsory for the theory as well as
practical sessions. The student failed to fulfil this
condition will not be granted the terms and therefore
liable to loose academic year.

campus and should produce it when demanded by the
authority of the institute.

outside shall be subjected to a strict disciplinary action

After online enrollment & online merit list, students seeking
admission in the XI std. shall apply in prescribed application
form enclosed along with the prospectus.
1) Students who have passed S.S.C. examination from any
statutory board in India shall be admitted to the XI std., if
they have offered English and cleared it as one of the
subjects.
2) The students passing S.S.C. examination from any Board
other than Maharashtra State, ICSE and CBSE will have to
obtain eligibility certificate from the Maharashtra State
Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune -
411 010 and submit it to the college at the time of
admission.
A) Standard XI
1) A Student who has passed XI std. examination in Arts,
Commerce or Science from a recognized Higher Secondary
School / Junior College in Maharashtra State, is eligible for
admission to XII std. Arts, Commerce or Science, as the case
may be, provided they submit the original mark list of the XI
std. examination, and the leaving certificate from the
school.
2) Students who have passed the Government Commercial
Diploma Examination besides passing the Secondary school
certificate Examination can be admitted to the XII std.
Commerce and Arts stream, provided they submit the
original S.S.C. & G.C.D. passing certificates along with
original statement of Marks and certificate in original form
of the commissioner, Government Bureau of Examination
Pune.
3) Students coming from other states who have passed the
examination equivalent to XI std. examination of the state of
Maharashtra will be admitted to XII std. provided they
obtain a certificate of eligibility for admission to their class
from the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and higher
Secondary Education, Pune.
The authority granting admission reserves the right to reject
any application without assigning any reason whatsoever,
and the decision of the Principal shall be final.

8) If your ward is participating in college sports events he /

9) EVS project should be submitted within time, otherwise
result will not be declared by college / H.S.C. Board.
10) Free Dental, Physical and Ayurvedic checkup will be
done by expert senior doctors.
11) The weekly test series will be conducted on every

Rules and Regulations for the Credit and Semester System in Post Graduate
Department of the affiliated college of the Savitribai Phule Pune University
Preamble
In pursuance of the decision to implement Credit System at the Post Graduate level and ensure continuous assessment, the
Savitribai Phule Pune University has decided to implement the Credit & Semester System (CSS) in all its affiliated colleges
and recognized institutions where post graduate courses are conducted.
A. Examination Rules
1. Assessment shall consist of a) In-semester continuous assessment and b) end-semester assessment. Both shall have an
equal weightage of 50% each.
2. The teacher, concerned shall announce the units for each in-semester assessment. However, the end-semester
assessment shall cover the entire syllabus prescribed for the course.
3. An in-semester assessment of 50% Marks should be continuous and at least two tests should be conducted for full
course of 4 credits and a teacher must select a variety of procedures for examination such as:
i. Written Test and / or Mid Term Test (not more than one or two for each course)
ii. Term Paper.
iii. Journal / lecture / library notes:
iv. Seminar presentation
v. Short Quizzes
vi. Assignments.
vii. Extension Work:
viii. An Open Book Test (with the concerned teacher deciding what books are to be allowed for this purpose) or
ix. Mini Research Project by individual student or group of students
The concerned teacher in consultation with the Head of the PG Department shall decide the nature of questions for the
Unit Test.
4. Semester end examination for remaining 50% Marks will be conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University.
5. The student has to obtain 40% Marks in the combined examination of In Semester assessment and Semester-End
assessment with a minimum passing of 30% in both these separately.
6. To pass the degree course, a student shall have to get minimum aggregate 40% Marks (E and above on grade point
scale) in each course.
7. If a student misses an internal assessment examination he/she will have a second chance with the permission of the
Principal in consultation with the concerned teacher. Such a second chance shall not be the right of the student.
8. Internal Marks will not change. A student cannot repeat Internal Assessment. In case she / he wants to repeat internal
assessment she / he can do so only by registering for the said courses during the 5 / 6 semester and onwards up to 8th th th
semester.
9. Students who have failed in semester-end exam may reappear for the semester-end examination only twice in
subsequent period. The student will be finally declared as failed if she / he does not pass in all credits within a total
period of four years. After that, such students will have to seek fresh admission according to the rules prevailing at the
time.
10. A student cannot register for the third semester, If she / he fails to complete 50% credit of the total credits expected to
be ordinarily completed within two semesters.
11. There shall be Revaluation of the answer scripts of Semester-End examination but not of internal assessment papers as
per Ordinance no. 134 A & B.
12 While Marks will be given for all examinations they will be converted into grades. The semester end grade sheets will
have only grades and final sheets and transcripts shall have grade points average and total percentage of Marks (up to
two deciM.A.l points) The final grade sheet will also indicate the PG Center to which the candidate belongs.

1. The system of evaluation will be as follows : Each assignment / test will be evaluated in terms of grades. The grades for
separate assignments and the final (semester-end) examination will be added together and then converted into a
grade and later a grade point average. Results will be declared for each semester and the final examination will give

Fee refund for cancellation of admission before the
commencement of courses of the relevant academic year :
As per the notification issued by UGC, New Delhi Dated 23rd April, 2007
(Savitribai Phule Pune University Circular No. 179 of 2008)
For the candidate who cancels the admission before starting the course for the relevant academic year,
his/her entire fee after deduction of processing fee of not more than Rs. 1000/- shall be refunded to the student
by the University / concerned Institution.
If the student cancels his/her admission after the course has started following scheme will be adopted for
refund of total fees :

The College aims at encouraging talented students by Providing ample scope for the adequate exposure of their interests in dramatics,
music, arts and craft, debating, oratory, writing etc. The growing enthusiasm in the students to make serious efforts to excel their
performance is likely to be reciprocated by instituting trophies and holding competitions in various activities to reward the most
deserving students in different fields. Science , Commerce, Arts and Computer Associations organize activities for students throughout
the year.
Along with extra curricular activities organized yearly, the college also holds a customary send-off party for the Third Year Students. The
get-together is made a memorable feature of the cultural activity by complementing it with the group Photo-session and speeches by
eminent personalities and the representatives from the various department.

The N.S.S. Unit of the college, comprising of 150 students from the degree section, has been proved successful realizing the originalconceived aim of N.S.S. by enhancing and inculcating the volunteers with social awareness and spirit of service towards fellow men.
The College N.S.S. unit holds annual winter camp in some remote village influenced and benefitted by the urban developments. Thedays spent in the camp are packed with rigorous outdoor activities, it has been proved as the effective means to get the students toattend to the myriad problems faced by rural India, this gives them an opportunity to encounter reality and relate their acquiredknowledge to the practical aspects of day to day life. In their efforts toreach out to the multitudes, the students get insight into the reality,operating on different levels and thus understanding through action, thereal purpose of voluntary social services.
Besides the N.S.S. unit, the college also organizes a number ofprogrammes and activities throughout the year. In order to keep thestudents informed about the message of N.S.S., focus is laid uponconducting seminars, workshops, street plays, film shows and visits tosome social service institution, rally on road safety, blood donation camp,Adult literacy Classes, tree plantation, Shramadan drive to keep thecollege and environment clean, workshop on AIDS awareness are someof the continuation of the last couple of years to ensure the contributionof the students towards the society and surroundings.
Adoption of VillageThe village Salumbre, Tal. M val, Dist. Pune has been adopted by N S Sa . . .since 2011-12 and it has brought transformation in the village since itsadoption. Before adoption there were no toilets, scarcity of trees no,dams because of which there was lot of wastage of water. Our N S S. . .department have planted three hundred trees; have built three minidams, similarly, medical check-up camp for the village people, worksupport to toilets have been regularly carried out in the village.
T mahe adopted village Salumbre received the “Nir l Gram award”, “Cleanvillage award” from the And ra Pradesh Government. The committeehconsisting of cabinet ministers and secretaries of And ra Pradesh statehGovernment visited the village and declared that they will follow“ in their state. The work done by the department ofSalumbre Pattern”N S S in the village is ear rked and appreciated by the Grampanchyat.. . . maThe village Salumbre is the maximum award winning village in theMaharashtra state and the department of N S S ensures the continuous. . .improvement in it.

The College organizes Annual Sports Competition for Junior
and senior College in variety of out - door & indoor games
like cricket, various athletics events, table - tennis, carom,
chess etc. special consideration is shown by the college to
the students who have bright records in sports. The college
encourages meritorious sports persons by ensuring their
participation in various events and tournaments at
intercollegiate, inter - University, national and international
level.
